A major chapter has been written in the project RS saga! To start, the seam welding is complete on the car. All the wheel wells are done. The underside along the transmission tunnel (both lengthwise and across) has been strengthened. The car was on the ground so I couldn’t see for myself the actual underside welds, but the snail trail marks on the floor are evidence of some sweet weldin’!
The cage is completely finished! Not only were the sill bars in, but also the door gussets, main hoop gussets and the harness bar. They all look fantastic!
Were not out of the woods yet though! There is still SO much work left to do. I’ve got to get the car prepped for paint, and we’re almost there. The rear end is very close if not completely ready now.
So Kyle says it’s all downhill from here… well sort of. Does this car look like its ready to race? The list is still very long in getting this thing stage ready, but ill be just content with having it painted, running, and with the windows back in.
The next major hurdle is getting our paint situation figured out. The costs associated with towing the car around to rattle-can it pretty much put that option out the window. Out of respect for PLaCAR and Jackson Rally we’re not going to be spray painting on the premises. Overspray is hard to control and we don’t want to damage and of the equipment nearby. So, we’re waiting on some quotes from paint shops in the area.
I’d like to thank Kyle at Jackson Rally for his meticulous attention to detail and his insane welding skills. He did an excellent job and I am beyond stoked at how well this turned out. Be sure to send JacksonRally a PM if you are interested in some of his cage work or other fabrication services.
