With Gorman Ridge Rally in the bag and Keith’s car up and running, the RS can finally get some love. Its been neglected for the last 5 weeks and i’m very excited to get going again. Another visit out to PlaCar / Jackson Rally had me scraping and picking again, this time making sure that the rear wheel wells are good to go for some seam welding. I figured while I’m in there I might as well brush the inside of the trunk too so when its goes to paint, everything comes back nice and tidy.
Prep’d the main seams on the wheel well where it meets the chassis. (Drivers side)
Same thing on the Passenger side
These parts were way easier to do than inside the wheel well. No old dirt flying in my face, etc. 90% of the seam glue is on the underside too, so this was just a simple job of pulling with a metal pick (much like a dentist does) and then hitting it hard with the wire brush to expose the metal.
Now onto the fun stuff! Got to throw the All Wheels Driven gravel coilovers on, because the car has to be mobile to get it on the lift in the next couple of weeks. Damn these things are sexy!

The passenger side obviously looks the same, so no need to add more pics. There is a decent amount more travel from these coilovers, i had to disconnect the front sway bar (which i was planning on removing anyway). Everything fit perfectly, so I really have to hand it to Barrett and his tight tolerances for making everything sit so pretty. I decided to splurge on new camber & regular bolts with nuts to make installing and removing these things a piece of cake!
Kyle has the main hoop tacked in with the driver’s side half lat also in place. The passenger side half lat will be going in soon, and once that’s all done the roof can come off and be replaced with the solid JDM skin. Progress feels great. I’m stoked. More to come…
