Piloted by Petter Solberg on Saturday, avid enthusiast and octane-lover Alan Davies got his first taste of a World Rally Car, and was blown away by it. “It was just incredible, the sense of trees, banks, everything being so close all the time and Petter dancing on the pedals to make the car do whatever he wants” he enthused. “I’ve driven and ridden lots in the past, but I think that tops it. I’d have been scared if it wasn’t Petter driving!”

Andy Green OBE, World Land Speed Record holder and the only man to have travelled faster than the speed of sound on land, is no stranger to speed, but even he was left captivated by his ride with Chris Atkinson. “Fantastic, it was great to be able to see how Chris works inside the car as it’s actually quite similar to flying in terms of the precision and foresight needed” said the ex-RAF Squadron Leader. “It’s a different kind of speed than I’m used to as we’re on such narrow tracks, but I can really appreciate the immense skill that goes into driving these cars quickly.”
