Subaru has made a stunning start to 2008 sales, retailing 4059 vehicles, a massive 31.1 per cent ahead of the previous January, according to official VFACTS figures.

The result gave Subaru a market share of 4.9 per cent, against 4.0 per cent last January.

The total is a January record for Subaru.

Leading the All-Wheel Drive charge was new generation Impreza with 1213 sales, 65 percent up on January 2007.

Also performing strongly was Forester with 1395 sales, up 29.3 per cent.

The revised Tribeca Medium Sports Utility Vehicle sold 142, up 26.7 per cent on last January, while Outback sales of 602 were ahead 18.5 per cent, making it a winning month for Subaru’s recreational range.

Liberty (Legacy) sales of 707 were up 6.8 per cent.
