CPD Racing will field 2007 Rally America Rookie of the Year Kyle Sarasin in the series’ elite Open class in 2008.
Following a successful two-day test in the snow earlier this month, the team was suitably impressed with Sarasin’s performance to upgrade the 19-year-old from his Group 5 Ford Focus to an Open class Subaru Impreza.
Team Manager Graham Evans was pleased with Sarasin’s performance on the ice and snow during testing.
“My early concerns about Kyle’s ability to handle the more powerful four-wheel-drive car were quickly replaced with enthusiasm and confidence,” said Evans.
With two weeks remaining until Sno*Drift, Sarasin is confident of his chances at the season opener.

“I had tested the car last year on gravel, so I’m fully aware of its potential,” said Sarasin. “The guys did a great job with the car in testing, and I was pleasantly surprised with how much grip we could find.
“However, I am fully aware of Sno*Drift’s reputation and that one lapse in concentration could spell disaster.
“A lot of drivers with more experience than me have found themselves at the mercy of the notorious snowbanks.
“I’m happy that I was able to impress the CPD team, and I’m thankful for the opportunity. This is a big step forward for me.”
