Sandblast Rally Announces 2009 Sponsors

The Sandblast Rally, a car and motorcycle racing event taking place this weekend in Chesterfield county, South Carolina, has made a final list of sponsors available. Event chairman Anders Green commented “It’s great to be getting support, the event couldn’t operate without the generous help from these cities and companies.”

Returning this year as one of the premier sponsors is the Town of Cheraw. Cheraw sees a significant economic impact as one of the main host towns of the event. The Town of Patrick, site of the service area during the race, is also returning as a sponsor. The media group of WCRE 1420, MyFM939, and The Link has also played a big part in helping to promote the event.

New this year is Burger King who will be providing breakfast for the volunteers who are coming in from all over to help with the rally. And local manufacturer Highland Industries joins the rally for the first time this year by donating some pieces from its Takata Racing Products line as awards for the fastest car and motorcycle. The Bennett Motor Company is providing the space to do the technical inspections of the race vehicles and fans are welcome to stop by and watch on Friday.

Team Chesterfield is assisting with the awards ceremony, and the Patrick Pine Straw Festival is helping with the pit stop facilities in Patrick. CCARS, the local ham radio club, is donating their equipment and members toward the critical task of communication at the race. FirstHealth of the Carolinas will also be on call to assist should any of the racers need medical attention. J and W Tools returns this year, as does Make It Stick Media who provides the racing decals.

Amy Feistel, Event Coordinator, said “I’m very excited about this year! We’re trying so hard to make connections within the community so that everyone can be a part of the rally. Especially with times right now, I’m proud to be part of an event that has such a large economic impact to the Sandhills area.”

There’s still time to volunteer and be part of the event, and the web site, SandblastRally.com, has an easy form to fill out so you can be part of the action. Volunteer sign up all happens most of the day on Friday at the Theatre on the Green in Cheraw, SC.
