Rally Team for Dreams Attracts Global Attention for Kids Impacted by HIV/AIDS

Newly formed Rally Team for Dreams is creating big buzz in the world of rally racing, attracting attention in 44 states and 59 countries, by dedicating their rally car to helping kids
impacted by HIV/AIDS enjoy a week of respite at Camp Sunrise. The team’s mission to send kids to camp in 2011 has attained international coverage on over a dozen popular motorsport websites in the past two weeks, raising awareness for Camp Sunrise and beginning to raise the much needed funding as the team prepares to compete before a live audience of 400,000 spectators and 50 million worldwide fans on TV.

Experienced rally car drivers Andrew Frick and Ryan Scott created Rally Team for Dreams as a way to help kids facing adversity. “We love rally and are lucky to have been able to follow our childhood dreams, but not every kid gets that chance,” states Frick. The team will be supporting Camp Sunrise while competing in one of the largest motorsport events in the world, the World Rally Championship Rally Guanajuato Mexico, March 3- 6, 2011. The grassroots team is dedicating every inch of space on their homebuilt Ford Focus rally car to a unique fundraising effort by selling more than 10,000 1x1 inch blocks for $5 each. In addition to helping offset the cost of competing in the rally the team is hoping to drive donations of $12,000 - $27,000 to help support kids going to Camp Sunrise.

One of only a few summer camps in the US for children impacted by HIV/AIDS, Ohio’s Camp Sunrise was created in 1994 to provide critical support to children as they struggle with the challenges associated with the disease. “Camp Sunrise is thrilled to be partnered with Rally Team for Dreams to support this special program dedicated to empowering children and families impacted by HIV/AIDS,” says Cheryl Foley, RN, Executive Director.

Rally Team for Dreams is excited about the publicity their participation in Rally Guanajuato Mexico will raise for the camp and the kids it serves. “The amount of awareness our underdog team will raise for Camp Sunrise while competing on the world stage is mind boggling - which is why we’re urging individuals and businesses to join our team and ensure it becomes a reality,” says Scott.

Considered to be the pinnacle of motorsports, the World Rally Championship (WRC) is comprised of 13 events in as many countries, and challenges drivers to some of the most extreme driving conditions on the globe. The Rally Guanajuato Mexico is the 2nd fixture of the 2011 season and, for the first time in WRC history, will feature an underground stage in which the cars will race through the tunnels underneath Guanajuato.

Meet the team in person at the Sandblast Rally, February 5th, in Cheraw, SC where they will be providing media rides and testing a new motor before heading to Mexico.
