Mark Higgins wins the Rally Isle of Man, the fourth round of the MSA British Rally Championship which was held from 10-11 July. The event was featuring a total of 130 crews setting out to tackle over 170 competitive stage kilometres through 20 special stages.
It was a close battle throughout the two-day event between Mark Higgins in 2005 versioned Subaru Impreza and his main championship contender, Keith Cronin, with the two drivers holding the lead numerous times throughout the rally. As after a late puncture took the pressure off Higgins, Cronin was unable to stop Higgins becoming the most successful driver in the event’s history, becoming the only driver to claim five victories at the event. Higgins’ win boosted his championship campaign and is now joint leader with only two rounds remaining.
Fellow Subaru driver, David Weston Jnr. had a strong finish in his the latest model Subaru Impreza finishing sixth overall.
The next round of the BRC, fifth round “Ulster International Rally” in Northern Ireland taking place on 21 - 22 August.
