Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, today announced that it had obtained a homologation extension for Group R4 parts for the SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI series*1 from the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) as of 1 July 2011.
Group R4 is a new category in which a homologated kit is fitted to an FIA Group N car in order to be more competitive. In addition to lightweight parts such as a bonnet and polycarbonate windows, parts for suspension modifications and cooling enhancements all of which were homologated 1 May 2011, the following parts now can be used on the Group R4 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI.
- Front cross member assembly with adjustable installation points to suspension links
- Lightweight high-rigidity rear sub-frame assembly
- Heated windscreen to secure visibility in adverse weather such as rain (spec C only)
- Ball joints and pillow ball bushes for front lower arms
The homologated R4 kit together with those parts included in this expansion will be available for purchase through base teams and other channels*2 of Subaru Tecnica International (STI).
