Mudflaps

Simple and effective. This is probably the most popular and first mod to your car....especially for RallyX.

Lets see whos got what and why....please provide technical info (mounting techniques etc...)

Haha, of course!

Taking advice from a fellow DI member, I bought these bad boys from Ikea. Then I actually saw the video Aaron made and bought some similar hardware from the local hardware store and used the same method as newbie101, "drill and screw". Total cost: about $13.

I've been waiting for these to fall apart to get some urethane mudflaps but these have been holding up pretty well.

I have the red ones on my RS, they can be cut to look pretty or bolted right one. Has done a world of good to protect what is left of my paint!

Definitely do the mudflap mod. You can still get dirty. It'll help keep gravel off the paint.

bought at "Tap Plastics" and made a templet with cardboard. cut and screwed..

bah! i put mudflaps on my STi to keep it pretty, since the sticky tires pick up anything on the street. but the legacy, which is actually used in rallyX has no mudflaps...they would keep my car too clean. and it's not like the paint is in stellar shape anyway.

EDIT: i put the rallyarmor UR flaps on my STi, since i am hoping they will last a few years. i just used aaron's hspn videos for the install. more time-consuming than i thought it would be, but certainly not a difficult install.

What: RallyArmor UR's
When: ~2 days after I bought the car
Why: Black car + Subaru paint = :(
How: Followed the instructions & used their hardware, seems to be holding up fine (1 winter, a few gravel runs)

the best way to install them, am going to do that with the next set, but I think most on here are "unwilling" to drill holes in the sides of their garage queens to install mudflaps!

who you callin a "garage queen"? personally i just made mine with a stiffer material and let it hang off the edge like in the above pics...

I RA basics on both cars. The ones on the WRX are a little beat, so I may go with big floppy "GroupB" style flaps eventually. But I went with the RA basics because I like the flat black look, and really, I know they're pretty tough.

Don't recall if it's the Sparco or the Rally Armour ones, but I have seen them break into pieces at winter rallycrosses
