I will agree.... there is a lot of information out there on this topic, and would be nice to have the information here.
I'm sure it would help lots fo people out when doing engine swaps in rally cars, as well as trouble shooting.

Hear hear.
I've been on the verge of buying a Megasquirt PnP for awhile now. I'm sure I'm not the only person who's felt like ECU is the next logical step after (and ideally with) intake and exhaust for power mods.

Sounds like a great idea to me. One follow up question, would this be in each model year Impreza subforum? Does the DIY section also need one of these?
Moderators, be sure to keep an eye on these threads and make sure that the posts / threads are specifically about ECU programming, etc not just engine mods alone.

i was thinking more along the lines of it having its own forum in the tech section... it doesn't need to be broken up my generation or even in the diy section... i think it is a big enough topic that it deserves it own section

Agreed, great suggestion! Tech section yes, DIY section maybe not. It is a bit redundant.
I would separate by Forced Induction vs NA. Keep it nice and simple.

I think the sub forums should be by ECU, or at least where major ECU differences show up. like impreza 93-98 the ecus can have a chip added, but can't be flashed.
99-02 the impreza Ecus can be reflashed but you have to mail em in. 03-04?? 05-08 Cobb tune, open source ... etc. my info is a little wrong. but you see what i'm getting at, Tuning a 2001 Impreza, or a 2002 WRX is vastly different in what someone Can do to tune.

I agree, Dirty Impreza needs an ECU discussion forum.

I think since ECU's from so many different model years get swapped into different chassis Imprezas (and there's so many options to tune them), it makes sense to just have a general ECU tuning forum in the technical section.
http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/f...play.php?f=207 Check it out.
