I realized that i never had any pictures of my current rack setup. Since theres quite a few of us on here that have racks for all different purposes, i though it would be cool to see everyone else's setups. This way we can learn about what works best, etc.

http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/hosting/sti/2007-8-26-yakima_bikeracks/yakima_bikeracks_004.jpg
My setup:
Yakima Q-towers (gutterless)
Yakima Lock Cores
Yakima 38" Fairing
Yakima Raptor Bike Adaptors (x2)
Yakima 4 Board Snowboard Buttondowns (Not pictured)
Yakima Rad-Ready Adaptors (for angling the snowboard attachment for big bindings)
RackRoll Surfboard Softrack Attachments
3M Blue Tape for the contact points (fairing / Q-tower feet)
Overall im stoked on the setup. Since the Q-towers and crossbars are completely adjustible, i was able to keep these racks from my last car and use them on the STi. The snowboard adaptor works awesome, but sometimes its hard to get a good fit with difference stance sizes on different boards.
The Raptor bike attachments are coo, but probably not as stable as the kind where you actually remove the front tire and attach the front bike fork to the rack. Its not really an option for me anyway since my GF and i ride beach cruisers so the wheels need to stay on, even during transport. Sometimes the clamp on the arm attachment the holds the frame slips a bit when hitting a lot of wind on the freeway so be sure to always crank that thing down tight as hell. Even when everything is tight on the roof they still clunk around a bit, kinda annoying, but its never fallen off so thats good!

My setup:
Thule Tracker Towers
Thule Crossbars (not sure what size they were, but i hacked off about 6 un-needed inches)
Thule Lock Cores
Thule 38" Fairing
Thule Playpen Basket (modded for a slimmer profile)
If i'm able to set aside some time this winter, i'd like to hit the slopes again in which case i'll be picking up a set of Snowboard racks for'em. Right now i've only got one of those Snowboard holders that clips onto the top of the window glass cuz' i didn't have roof racks before the Subie.

Nice.. youll be happy with it for sure. It takes a little bit of monkeying around to get the cross bars in exactly the right position, but once they are there, you never had to adjust them again...

Alright, here's my setup:
Thule rack and mounts. (I couldn't tell you which ones/model number, I just went to www.rackattack.com and followed their directions)
I have a thule bike rack on there, Yakima basket (sandwhiched between the two bars, so its not in the way of anything else) and 2 pair of vertical ski mounts. Plus a pair of KC high light pencil beams. Oh, and the Thule faring. Dog not included.

409industries

If it has wheels, yakima makes a kit for it. The same towers that work on the newer Imprezas should work for the 2.5RS since they have clips that go into the door sills. ..

are there any racks for sedans that just clip into the gutter?
I'm afraid of anything that clamps to the sheet metal (especially after seeing a 2.5rs in Capitola Ca that had the c pillar all dented in from the clamps).
plus I like the clean look of racks that just use the gutter...
anyone, anyone?

I heard that in the UK there is an option to use the roof gutters to mount a factory rack, but have never seen it in the US.

check out the rear hitch rack. this is the best for bikes since you don't have to lift it overhead. especially helpful for heavy mtn bikes.

Does anyone know what kind of rack I can get for my impreza that will travel a bike without taking the front wheel off?
I really like my Saris rack. It's a hitch mounted one, it's nice and light, super easy to use, folds up pretty small, and only attaches to the wheels (which is good if you have a bike with a weird frame like mine)
http://www.saris.com/p-298-thelma-2-bike.aspx
If you want to take a look at it sometime let me know. I'm not sure when I'll be in columbus next, but I could bring it with me.

Thanks man. I need something. I'm tired of taking of a wheel and cramming it into the back seat.
I dont have a hitch so I'm trying to see if a hitch plus the hitch rack is cheaper than a roof rack.

My Yakima HighRoller does.
Yakima also makes the King Cobra, Raptor Aero, and Raptor that keep the front wheel on.

but all kidding aside, i was just going through the light bar picture thread started by rllyrckt http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2926
Great thread by the way.
I Know there isn't as many people out there with roof racks compared to how many people there are out there with light bars but there has to be a decent group out there with racks. I am in the process of getting a custom one made cause I have the intention of going camping and such and the extra lights that I'll have will be nice :muhaha:
So whether you have, a custom piece or aftermarket show em! especially if they are loaded up for those trips. As soon as I get mine done, I'll post some pics.

I got mine for canoe carrying duty at first, then ended up buying a kayak and used it for that. Now a car top carrier lives on it and a home made fishing pole holder for the salt water poles.
Here it is when I first picked up my kayak.

Don't have any pictures of it with the canoe on top or the car top carrier and rod holders.

Someday I want a Yakima Load Warrior...
All I got for now is a Yakima Forklift for my MTB and a detachable flag (not shown) for sand dunes that I made with Yakima Mightymounts.

factory crossbars mated to thule square crossbars via spacers, wrapped in an old bike tube, with a U bracket holding everything snug. I am very surprised at how sturdy it is!

I just posted my rack (Post #103) before and I was just thinking if I should maybe change the look. Either change the snow camo to carbon fiber or wood grain. What do you guys think??
I think I may like the darker color from the carbon fiber.

For our car I dont think we have a choice. I used to have the Yakima Basketcase that wasn't as tall as the other baskets but the max load was wayyyy smaller than the other baskets.

I am wanting to get a basket/ bike rack set up. I plan on putting roof mounted bike racks on top of the basket. (what is a good bike rack to buy?)
I am considering the Yakima Load warrior
http://www.orsracksdirect.com/yakima-8007070.html
or the Thule M.O.A.B 690xt
http://www.orsracksdirect.com/thule-moab-roof-basket-rack-690.html
Has anyone used either of these. I have the factory Aero bars on the 06 OBS.
Thank you in advance.

The MOAB looks great IMO. I like the styling but as for function I cant be sure. I am trying to get the Subaru basket for a good price but cant find one yet.

I'm looking at baskets now too, I might go with the little Yakama basket that lets me put two bike racks on either side.
I just picked this up from nasioc clasifieds -
