Before i can build the roll cage for the RS, id like to already have some seats picked out. I'm having a hard time finding any that are affordable really, but theres a few out there as possibilities.
My requirements are:
- Fixed back (duh)
- HANS compliant / compatible (eventually ill be getting all the HANS stuff so better to plan for it now).
- FIA homologated
- Lateral protection at the helmet level
- Will work with 5 or 6 point harnesses
This guy looks pretty nice...

Of course if i was made of money, id just get one of these:

#1 tip....sit on it!
At the cobb meet, RallySportdirect was there and they had 4-5 sparco and corbeau seats mounted to test out. they all 'looked' the same, but some I couldn't even fit in. others, fit like a glove.
One had that lateral helmet protection and so I plopped on my peltor helmet and sat in it...I found it really restrictive. Maybe I just have to get used to it, its not like you do a lot of backingup/looking over your shoulder in a rally car, but something to consider.
I really want to try out a HANS device/seat...I have the posts in my helmet, but no idea what it feels like to drive with it.
Seats are expensive, and everything I've read says its one of the few items you don't want to scrimp on....so plan on spending the cash.

yeah, well ive been doing seat research all day too... not exactly in the working mood today.
Yeah skimping on safety equipment is not a good idea (especially on your helmet!) but $1300 on a seat is damn expensive.

Yeah i was checking out some of the sparco seats as well. I got a chance to sit in my buddy's Recaro Pro Racer HANS, its really nice! However he informed me that the reason it was in his house is that it wont fit in a caged STi. That means i doubt it will fit in a caged RS. He suggested the Recaro Pole Positions. As long as the sitting postion is the same, man it felt great!
I found pole positions on the internet for $600 each. Not too bad.

the hans will not fit in a cage STi with standard brackets. fab some brakets that sit you 1 in closer to the tranny tunnel. then you're set.

This was on primitives catalog for their saftey eq. Seats cost some cash man. I was gonna get seats but looked around at prices and was like F that! No till I have my stage car ready for them.

Look into Racetech seats. They are affordable and very well constructed. Sparco, you're paying for the name and it's an inferior seat.

I actually did check these out the other day, at the advice of someone on another forum. Do you have any of these seats? Which would you recommend?

LOL...j/k Eli, good to see a real 'stage rally' guy on these boards. People are gonna think we're a bunch of posers.
