Hello Dirty Impreza Peeps!
My name is Ryan. Im new to this site but not new to WRXs. I bought my first WRX back in 2002 when they first came to the states. I think I picked mine up the second day they were available at the dealership.

I modfied it minorly. Just intake/exhaust/front strut brace/17" wheels with falken Azenis. The car went through all of the tranny and clutch recalls. I blew the motor in it a month ago at 89,000 miles. I drove this car very hard while taking good care of it, but I guess my heavy foot was the demise of the motor. I dropped a new block from the factory in it new water pump new thermostat new gasket set and the car drove great after that...

but..

I was ready for a change....

So I broke down last weekend and traded in the 2002 for this beaut' an Urban Grey Metallic 2007 SPT STI. WOW! Very impressed. Definitely a different sort of beast. Im totally in love with this beautiful machine. It only has 300+ miles on it so obviously I havent revved it past around 4500 RPM. But the rush of boost that I have experienced is intoxicating. The SPT package comes with an intake with heat shield and a Bosal exhaust. The exhaust sounds great. Not too loud at idle but when you revv it it releases that great boxer growl...love it!

Well just wanted to introduce myself. Im selling some of the parts off of my old WRX so check the For Sale section for a parts list.

See you in the twisties!
Ryan

Welcome to the forums Ryan!

The upgrade from the old girl to the new STi was probably a real eye-opener! I love to hear people sticking with subies and staying stoked on them! Congrats!

As far as plans go..Im not sure what Im gonna do. The car with the SPT package is down right fast out of the box...but im sure once I get use to the power then Ill want more. Id prolly do a Downpipe and a UTEC. My friend has a DP on his STI and it spools way faster than my stock STI.

Not totally sure what broke the old block. I started burning oil maybe 6 months ago. I put a heavier weight Synthetic oil in it and it seemed to not burn as much..then one day...BAM. IT didnt totally seize up...at idle it sounded like someone pounding on my block with a hammer..prolly blew a bearing. oh well!

Yeah out of the box they are damn fun cars (especially when you go from something NA).

Power-wise if you were looking for the next big jump, i was very happy with a very complimentary set of mods... Turboback exhaust + Cobb Accessport w/ Stage 2 maps.

The car feels SO much more alive and pulls way harder over stock. An awesome investment.

Yeah...thats gotta be a good setup you got goin there. Since I already have the catback done then ill prolly do just the DP....then eventually get rid of that catted uppipe...i hear even with just the UTEC you can get some pretty good gains.
