Ok so i know the deal with tall people with harnesses you dont want the mounting piont lower than the height of your sholders. So me being a tall guy 6'3 im going to adjust for that, but when i build my car my wife is also going to rally x. What about the piont being too tall she is 5'2 so is it ok to have that higher// just not lower correct.

go to scroth's website. they have very detailed instructions on proper harness geometry and spacing.

You want the belts to come off the top of your H&N device and straight back (level) or slightly down (not more than 20 degrees). You do not want the belts to go up off your shoulders. Take the seat holes into consideration as well! If the belts are hitting the seat and deflecting up or down, this causes just as much (if not more) of a problem as mounting the belts at the wrong angle to begin with. I point this out because at 5'2", a seat that fits you properly will probably have the harness holes too high for her and the belts are going to be too high above her shoulders when they come through the seat.

But, rallycross won't subject you to situations where the belts would have to work at optimum performance. Mount the belts to your needs and when your wife slides the seat forward, the angle of the belts shouldn't be too bad. She shouldn't run stage rally, sprints, or track days with the belts like that, but rallycross or solo will be OK.

+1 for reading the Schroth installation instructions and any other manufacturer's recommendations that you can find carefully. There is some very good information in there.

I believe the Rally America rules say that the belts can't be more than 10 degrees downward. So yes, straight back from your shoulders is good rule of thumb, but a little bit downward is OK

The R-A Rule is really vague:

"The shoulder harness angle to the point of support
shall be between horizontal and 10° below horizontal and
perpendicular to the rear of the seat."

If you look at the diagram that they provide (which by the way is the same diagram that was in the SCCA rulebooks back in the 80's :shootsself:), it makes it look like anything from straight back to 90 degrees to the back of the seat is acceptable.

I got the 20 degree figure from Schroth.

But as pointed out above, the best way to mount the belts from all the information that I've seen is just barely below horizontally/straight back from your shoulders. Probably the best rule of thumb is that it should be straight back off your shoulders without the H&N on (and thereby just slightly downward with the H&N on).

I was wondering the same thing, kinda. I just had my first rallyx and noticed I didn't feel very planted around the corners so I'm looking into some harnesses but don't have a harness bar/roll bar to mount them too. The top of my seat back is about level with my shoulders, maybe even a little taller than me. I was just thinking of mounting the eye bolts to the floor behind the seats and the lap belt to the OEM seat mounting points.

Would this be ok for rallycross?

The CG Lock works really well, it would make a good budget solution.

For a harness, I'd recommend the Schroth Rallye 4 harness. It bolts in to the front and rear seatbelt mounts but has a buckle in the middle so you can disconnect it and push it out of the way for someone to sit in the rear.

Ok so i know the deal with tall people with harnesses you dont want the mounting piont lower than the height of your sholders.

You can have the mounting point lower than your shoulders, you just can't have the included angle of buckle-shoulder-mount to be more acute than 90 degrees.
