Albert (worldrallyblue) and I met up at El Mirage lakebed this past Saturday for a bit of suby abuse. I brought along my new cones and we set up a course. We travelled the entire length of the lakebed (a few miles) and setup our little corner of dirt destruction on the western-most corner. Temps started out at a very nice 84 at around 10:30 or so, and rose to about 103 by the time we left around 1:30. Sadly we only got in a few laps before Albert found what must have been the only damned nail in the whole place :angryfinger: He got that nail good though.. wrapped that sucker a full 360!

Albert swapped to his spare (with the help of my amazing strength... cough cough  we didn't have a breaker bar...) and I went out for some more fun. Albert and his buddy (Chris right? damn I suck with names) took a lot of pictures and video. I wasn't about to let myself have all the fun so I let Albert take the wagon for a spin. He pointed out that the 06/07 has a much nicer feeling while shifting compared to the 04, and that it goes into first a lot easier. News to me!

Overall it was a blast. I learned I can't do e-brake 180's worth a damn, and that if you forget to release your ebrake and drive another couple hundred feet the cable gets a bit more slack in it. :shootsself:

Ah yes, and a quick paint sketch of the course. The last sweeping left hand turn had to be one of the most rewarding parts of the course. Taken at speed, and completely sideways

Wiicked! Nice job borking that nail though, it got what it deserved.

I wish we had dry lake beds...

Will we see video?

NICE guys! that looks like a big fun setup... I picked up a nail at JV last time we went out for fun too. People and their %!@$# pallets burning. Good thing he had a spare, but its a bummer for not getting more runs in.

Lets see the video!

Yes to video. I have some in-car footage, and I'm sure that Albert will be posting up his pictures and video as well.

Pallet burning huh? So that's where it came from! We couldn't figure it out...

Oh yeah, there was a guy with an autogyro there as well. Cool toy, if only those fools would stop flying in and out of our approach pattern at El Mirage airport :machinegunleft: Too bad we don't fly with live hellfires out here

yeah had a blast out there. not quite as far as ocotillo(only 90 minutes from where I am :P ) Almost as hot though. Damn that effing nail though. None the less I had a great time. Thanks again Loren for letting me get your wagon sideways.

Also, ordered 4 quarts of Redline Lightweight Shockproof. Should be in my tranny by wednesday or thursday. Hopefully shifting into first will feel more comfortable.

Oh and pics and video on the way.

video... video... video! hahah finally now I can be the one bugging for it! muuhahaha

Arent hellfires air to ground anyway? LOL

Autogyros are kinda like scooters and fat chicks. They're fun to ride until your friends see you on one.

OK, so who lives near Albert? Someone needs to go over to his place and threaten to club baby seals to force him into posting the pictures he took!

Still working on throwing together a short clip of some in-car footage. I knew I should have bought a new tape instead of using the one I had left in the car for days (possible heat damage). There are lots of audio and video glitches... :(

Looks like the corse was very fun! How many cones did you use? When burning pallets make sure to take out the nails before you start the fire! Whoever drives over your fire pit will thank you for it.

We used 45 cones total with a few doubled up for directions. It's really surprising how fast you go through cones trying to setup a course!

And yes Aaron, the hellfires are air to ground. The only attempt at air-to-air went quite poorly... http://youtube.com/watch?v=wWUR3sgKUV8
