I'm a huge GT-Four guy, my first 2 cars were USDM All-Tracs I love them to death but finding and getting parts was a real hurt on the wallet as much time and money I would have had in my 90 All-Trac by now I could probably own 2 rally prepped RS's, not to say that I wont go back to them, in fact the Canadians are getting the 6th gen body in with the nice front end suspension... but the Impreza has parts aplenty available for it so here we go!

Car as it showed up...

The replacement trans and look! it came with a free motor! That truck never handled so well in its life.

The car made this god clacking noise... like 1 piston was desperately trying to break through the head.. and succeeding! Luckily... this was the culprit.

Here's the Car Waiting to get its balls installed... gotta have that MT5...

and here's a youtube of my buddy mike starting the car after we got everything plugged back up... to our dismay... the flex plate wasn't the only noise maker... it had rod knock (of course the lack of exhaust hides that)

So... I grabbed this EJ205 with a bad shortblock... grabbed it, some extras like a TD04 and IC for around 700 shipped

I wanted to plan for the future so why not put the bad 2.5 block to good use!

Grabbed a Phase 2 Crank for 40 shipped off of 25RS, and got some STi pistons and rods from a member on nasioc, forgot how much, but it was a steal!

Currently I'm behind schedule, I need to get Piston rings from ye old stealer ship so I can send the block, out to get hot tanked/honed and get the crank micro polished. then I'm sending my harness out to Broken Motorsports, many thanks to billy up there too, he's hooking me up with some much needed misc parts on the cheap!

I have my 15" celica alltrac wheels in waiting for new offroad tires current ones are toast :(, and I'm trying to find a 4th 98-99 RS wheel cheap or I'm selling the whole lot and getting something cheap for DD/AX.

Suspension wise I'll be using stock struts on a ground control coil over kit with 10" springs.

I'm in the process of fabricating a brush guard at the local community college till I have the funds/skills to buy my own welder for home. skid plate and dif guard to follow soon after :D

Updates as soon as I get the block/crank back from the machine shop.

Bumping this back up, I've hooked up with a few more local people. and well I'm semi sponsored to go into Time Trials for the NASA, License is still pending. Its been so long since I did HPDE 2 I don't remember if I'm still eligible to continue.

But no longer is my little buddy gonna be a rally car. Fia spec Cage is going in at the end of this year though That has been set up with sponsor number 1 the local Vocational School's MotorSports Class (I wish I had that cool stuff growing up)

Cage will be done at their facilities along with their auto mechanics class taking care of alignments before and after every event.

Motor is Finished and In the car. front sub frame is hacked up but I'm already fabricating a new one. as for time attack I'm switching to a Honda S2000 (ap1) electronic assist steering rack to remove the strain from the crank and preserve power steering.

Tuning is set up with Epic Motor spots down in Fayettville NC wonderfull shop, with all the Service men down there and their semi disposable income. Even scored a free STi Radiator when I visited :D

The poor car would be on the road right now but when the fuel pump was being replaced we noticed the gas tank's sending unit was dead and had been lying :( tank was sitting high and mighty with 5 galons of gas that had been there for almost 4 years.

Are you 100% sure your fuel lines are on right ? Mine did the same thing when I first went to start it after my swap and I had the fuel lines crossed. I think the bottom one on the car goes to the bottom one on the engine and the middle one goes to the top one and obviously top goes to middle.

It's a common mistake ( I learned after I made it). Hope that helps.

Well after getting my tactrix cable out to check codes I learned the mistake was even dumber... the wrinkle paint I had painted the manifold was keeping the second ground from making proper contact with the manifold to ground out cam/crank/knock sensor so codes galore on them buddy of mine pointed it out when I told him the codes. Didnt find it out till 11pm my time so I avoided trying the change out to avoid pissing people off.

Hopefully some good news in the morning.
