CANCELLED/POSTPONED

After discussion at the SD Region SCCA Board meeting this past Thursday evening, the Regional Board of Directors and I agreed to postpone the February 28th RallyCross at Soak City Water Park. This was a unanimous decision based on the fact that a number of pending details were not finalized in time to permit adequate promotion and preparation of the event. . .

They are planning to move it to April 4th.

Wouldn't that having them running 3 out of 4 weeks in a row with a JV in the middle for good measure and a GH after for five straight weeks of FRX/CRS RallyX?

According to the email I was sent from Bret, they're canceling 2/28, 3/28 and 4/11 "due to conflicting events/attractions that further impact the availability of core workers (timing/scoring) and competitors alike."

I'm working to get this straightened out.

I will tell you this - I won't run a whole lot of points events consecutively. Events that are on the calendar have priority over a re-shuffle. We would not run 3 out of 4 weeks in a row and 5 out of 6 as points.

I only got notice of the cancellation this morning - give me a little time to settle it out. We need to know that 2/28 is canceled - the others we have a bit of leeway about so I didn't mention them yet. . . I wanted some more information first.

People also might try yelling at the San Diego SCCA to try to publicize their own events. :unamused::machinegunleft:

Yeah, I'm not going to let that happen. I've shifted JV twice now to try to keep a reasonable event schedule. I'll shift it again before setting up several consecutive events. We're cutting our own throats turn-out wise which will make all the events financially unstable.

NorCal events have shut down for costs. Ridgecrest 09 had only 25 entries. GH will be cancelled unless 35 pre-entries sign up. San Diego is bouncing all over the place dumping on pre-existing schedules then cancelling. This is all getting pretty frustrating.

Okay - hold on.

The nastiness is really only in SoCal, with San Diego canceling three events on us.

Glen Helen (SoCal) has a minimum pre-reg just to ensure that money is not lost. It's 35 and we haven't hit less than 35 in a long time, so it should not be a big deal.

Granted, we lost Antioch in NorCal, but with what Tam had been saying about how they were becoming such a pain, it's not going to be a huge loss. Vallejo is a good venue, probably better than Antioch, and should be easier to deal with. And less expensive as Antioch had been raising their prices. . .

RC only had 25 entries, true. That is bad news.

Don't get down on us - none of this is calamitous news. In fact, most of it is not news at all (except that you shouldn't go to Soak City on Feb 28. . . DOH)
