Yes! Yes! YES!

I know it has only been a couple weeks since the conclusion of the WRC season and the new season starts up again at the end of the month but to be honest I've been itching for some more racing action. So the return the Dakar Rally has been a God send. Now if only there was a Subaru backed team.

Going to be an interesting couple of weeks. I just watched the recce coverage and the terrain is INSANE. I guarantee a lot of those teams are nowhere near prepared for this!

ditto.. for many years now (except last year :pissed:) January is Dakar-month in my house. Every night is dinner and Dakar :D

It's on Versus again huh.. hope they don't make a mess of it.

yeah domestic coverage of international racing is usually quite poor, so I tend to stick to the European coverage (eurosport and itv).

My brother is in Buenos Aires and got to see the start of the rally. I guess there were over half a million people in the streets to watch.
Versus sucks. Where can I find better coverage online?

/\/\/\I'd love to know this too. I just watched the Versus "coverage", what a joke!

It'll be interesting to see if Mitsu can pull out an 8th consecutive win with the new Racing Lancer.

Sorry guys I fail:shootsself: The site went to invite only using codes and at the moment I haven't earned any invite codes. I'll work on that.

VW seems very determined to take it this year. The car is mature now and Sainz is (obviously) a man to be reckoned with.

I'm in the exact same situation... the Versus coverage is really, really bad but it's better than nothing.

I know its par for the course, but what part of that 'Lancer' is a lancer? The tube frame? The Purpose Built QUAD Turbo V6? Even the general SHAPE of the car? I know the Touareg and other cars aren't any better, I just find it amusing that they keep hyping the 'Racing Lancer' like there's any ties to the street car. Maybe it uses the same lugnuts. :)

Not a good sign with Masuoka out so soon with a popped engine. They were saying this one was supposed to be bulletproof. Its already proving to be a favorites-upset!

The name...

:lol2:

No different from any "silhouette" type series though. You just choose what you want to promote. I think the hype is that it's a brand new car, as well as that it's a break from many years of Pajeros. In this climate though I can see why they'd want to push a passenger car vs a 4x4.

That Sportage is cool. And Robby Gordon's place is a few miles away in Anaheim. We even have some folks on DI who've done fab work for him.
