I have an 07 2.5i wagon with an automatic, and was wondering if the wrx rear end would be an upgrade?
Compatible (same gear ratio etc.)?
Worth it? Do the wrx rear ends have limited slip?
Thanks

Is it a 4eat or a 5eat?
If its still a 4eat, then its 90% FWD, so upgrading rear diff wont do much..
Also.. 4eats have a 4.11 final gear... wrxs' dont... Think you'd have to look for a forester rearend...

It is the auto. Please enlighten me on how it is 90% front wheel drive? It sure doesn't feel like it has that much front end bias. But I am only referring to how it drives in the snow.
Is the center differential that much different?
Thanks for your help.

the regular bias is 90/10 for normal driving. once the car senses slip, it will distribute the bias up to 50/50 i believe.
the wrx rear diff is a viscous lsd. i know that some of the wrx's are auto as well but i'm not 100% that they would be the same gearing as the non turbo'd cars and have the lsd as well. (i'd assume so but you know what they say about assuming)

thanks Strat.
So the manuals, I have heard.......... and I am assuming that they have a much less complicated 50/50 split 100% of the time right?!?
Crap...........I really wanted to keep this car (the first brand new car I have ever purchased and it has been babied for the most part), but the more and more I learn about it the more and more I think that I will be looking for a used WRX wagon next year, with a 5speed of course.
I really didn't think that there was this much of a difference from the i to the rex.
Oh well knowledge is power.
Thanks guys.
