Though I would start my journal...

My original plans were to make a sweet auto-x and street car, but after one week, parked outside my apartment there were 3 door ding dents, and a HUGE dent in the RF fender where some drunken ******* had punched it.... This is when I began to care less about the paint/bodywork, I started looking for shallow mud holes...

New with 7miles @ time of photo!
http://a736.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/00440/53/76/440416735_l.jpg

After 1 and a half years of partying EVERYDAY wasting my money on Alcohol and Weed... I decided to live up to my reason for buying the car ;) Got some Tien S-Tech Springs and went to an Auto-X

S-Techs -- Still shiny paint, minimal denting...

http://a163.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/94/l_6ddaa62c69684927e6b11c725b8f3352.jpg

Well after auto-xing for 2 or 3 events, I started drinking again because of Graduation time, I had friends graduating... I am an Alcoholic and OPENLY ADMIT IT NOW, I go to self help meeting and have 11months sober ;) .... So anyways, I was @ a party, Got drunk and realized I was supposed to be @ work @ 2pm... So I jumped in my car and went to work trashed... <--- DO NOT DO THIS @ HOME! and well... I hit a curb pulling into the parking lot @ work... ripped off the front bumper...

I fixed it and still planned on having a nice car, Till I joined a Local BMW club called the NMMR.. NuMassMontRing... It essentially a fast paced road-rally, with only 4 cars out of 60 getting totaled last year... It goes: From Troy NY up Rt2 to ALMOST Boston, up into New Hampshire then Down through VT, then to Schenactady NY, and back to Troy... Takes about 5 hours... and is ~380miles round trip... Anyways I LOST my bumper @ this event... I was drifting a corner and Paris found traction and I knocked down a stop sign... EDIT: Most of the People have LEFT the Group, and the ones that are left, haven't organized ANY events for this year yet... Most of which are too busy finding/building new cars... Luckily I am teh NMMR mechanic so i made lots of $ fixing things for people!

A pic 10 minutes before I lost the bumper...
http://a563.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/106/l_8e9e9a2f79a466f807467a6fa0739fda.jpg

After this event, I was upset for a while... Fixed the bumper and realized... Hey its just a car, why not use it for what it is designed to do ;) About this same time, the farmer that USED to give me a tax break by using my land as Agriculture, stopped using my land, and went out of business... Hence the Rally-Tracks were born ;)

2006 Season I competed ALL summer with the MoHud Chapter of SCCA... I was in STS, and score MANY 2nd and 3rd place, (except one event I was in SM for forgetting my back seat, but I still got 2nd) with JUST my S-Tech Springs and whatever tires I pulled out of the dumpster @ work, I missed 2 events and Ended up with a 6th place over all In the Street category...

Me and some fellow UNYSOC members 2006 season (Me on S-Tech & RE92 "that day")
http://a860.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/01011/95/87/1011537859_l.jpg

Driving around feilds and ATV trails, I have destroyed just about EVERY part on the underside of this poor car, and had everything replaced under warranty, that I could... The 5 local Dealerships have ALL told me that if I come back for more warranty they will NOT do anymore, if there is the slightest chance it is due to abuse... Luckily I only have 8kmiles left on it...

Winter of 07.. Didnt get snow till January 07.. First time out on my BALD Kuhmo Ecsta 711 I went straight off the road @ 10mph, and over a 4 ft ditch/cliff (it was a straight vertical drop), also took out the barbed wire fence along the side of the road, hence the 2 tone paint... Claimed it with insurance, they said it was 2600$ worth of damage handed me 2100$ and I "Fixed" everything with rattlecans, hammers, and Plastic Weld Epoxy, for about 500$ and 200$ for a set of rims, (2 of mine were bent)... Insurance company accepted my "repairs" and I am back to full coverage and spent the rest on performance parts ;)

My "Repairs"

k.. So thats a pretty much UP to date journal...

I'll be updating it this weekend... ALOT bit...

P.S. I know drunks are all P.O.S... Plz dont comment on my personal life, and past... This is a journal about my car....

Whether or not you agree with some of the decisions that have been made in your personal life, you can't deny thats a very cool write up about the whole development of your car! I was totally into reading it!

I'd have to agree that its interesting how once you get a dent in your car you get into that f-k it mode and drive way more agressively all the time...

Keep that car running man!

Ok so Updates:

Thursday night I was driving home, went over a crest that unloads the suspension @55mph, and while unloaded saw a deer in the road, between the cliff and the swamp so it ran down the road @ me! It just kind of bounced off.... and did 2 dents...

Dented the fender some more:
http://bumpinrs.jokers-cards.com/ParisRebuild/eParisRebuild%20016.JPG
And creased the drivers door:
http://bumpinrs.jokers-cards.com/ParisRebuild/eParisRebuild%20021.JPG

Well.. The deer got up and walked away... I was kinda upset, but eh... **** happens... My fault anyways, if I hadn't been going quick the deer would have known I was coming...

So this weekend, I just drove down to Cairo NY to pick up some parts ;)

I just realized.. I am a Wheel-O-Holic... I have 5 complete sets of Subaru Rims... And not enough tyres to wrap them all in...

Its just cheaper to buy used wheel+tyre packages, than just Tyres... wow....

I'm looking for a set of LGT rims, I love those... I'd have to paint em gold too! *cough* I need more tyres, mine are all bald

hmm.. I also like shoes... I have 13 pairs of shoes/boots... Dunno why, I just hate wearing the same shoes everyday.... Must be why I do it for my cars too!

Paris will get a few more pics updated 2moro afternoon :D After the rally-X with a pink Grill.....

Hm...

Sad news to report...

I have decided this car costs me too much per month... I am going to return it to stock, and be selling it, and if it doesn't sell, the wholesaler @ work is going to buy it for 7.5k$... I cant afford the monthly payment and insurance anymore... I dont even drive the car for anything other than racing events....

I've owned this car for almost 3 years (purchased Febuary 14 '05), the longest I have ever owned a car... Its going to be sad to see it go, but I cant get serious into racing if I keep it... (cost me about 410$ per month 280 payment+ 130insurance) were as my legacy cost me 35$ per month on insurance... I know the insurance will go up without my multi car discount but oh well.. Still much less...

I'll take pics of the return to stock process...

I will probably be selling alot of the aftermarket stuff... But not all of it :D Everything still fits the legacy if I want it to!

Otherwise, I'd be really sad to see it go :(

Have you thought about reducing insurance to liability? Or possibly a "storage car"? that might save you some money :)

Otherwise, I'd be really sad to see it go :(

My current bank wont allow that, since I have a loan on it... Before I was financed with SOA, and they allowed me to put it in "storage".. But I refinanced with my personal bank @ a lower rate, but they ended up requiring a lower deductables and higher liabilities... So insurance skyrocketed... Its not really insurance killing me asmuch as the car payment...

I make about 2k$ every month... I screwed myself on some credit cards, and petrol is soo expensive... With the car, insurance, Credit cards, student loans, and some medical bills I'm working down; I am budgeted for ~1300$... So that is 700$ a month for food, petrol, entertainment (women)... and since I live about 10miles outside of town (basics: food, work) and 30 miles away from any entertainment (movies, bowling, tacobell, wendys, TGIF) I end up using alot of fuel, if I do anything @ all... I generally travel 350-600 miles every week.. Damn... Maybe if I stopped chasing women I'd be better off.....

Well.. so anyways... I want to get serious about racing, If I stop chasing women and get rid of this car, I can get "serious"... Meaning.. Cage, Suit, Seats, and Tyres in my integra, and no more modding, Just get to the track!:shootsself: By the begining of next season...

TODAY: I ordered one gallon of OBPM paint, and started cleaning out my garage...

Body work FTL :(

I'll keep everyone updated with photos....

Plan is:

Pop the dents
Fix the plastics
sand the car up
Install all factory parts (hood, wing, bent rims, suspension bits)
Bondo for a smoothe finish
Spray her OBPM where it needs it (lower half the car)
Ebay... No reserve 7500$
if it doesn't sell there, then to the wholesaler.... :waving:

http://bumpinrs.jokers-cards.com/ParisRebuild/eParisRebuild%20146.jpg

Ok.. So what I have left to do... Wetsand with 800grit... I am going to switch it over to a flat paint...

I used one quart of bondo, 3 cans of Filler Primers, 2 packs of 180 grit paper, few sheets of 400grit, 5 cans of the Semi Flat to do what I did (sides and bumpers)

The front bumper still has flaked paint underneath the first coat of black, so I will spend some time sanding around where the flakes are visible, to give a smoothe appearance...

P.S. I am really sick from inhaling all those fumes/dust for the last few days ;) Next time I will certainly invest in a respirator or atleast a face mask....

UPDATE!!! 1/30/08

Well after looking into my current financial situation, how much the car is wort, how much it would cost to repair the seized motor... I may as well fix the car to my liking, and drive it for a few more years atleast...

I do already have alot of the parts needed to turbo the car, just gotta put them on...

I will be getting an EJ257 shortblock....

Just ordered a NEW 3inch turbo back ebay exhaust... I Am going to get a TD-04 for ease of finding exhaust parts.. My t3/t4 needs a rebuild ANYWAYS...

SO... I am looking @ 2600$ for everything I need, to get it running in a Condition that I approve of, enough to make me keep it for a few more years... WOOT! Watch out rally-x!

Ok.. so here it is: Paris' heart stopped beating a few weeks ago (seized up).. I'm assuming its a spun bearing, but now I am unsure till I get the pan off the old motor...

THE PLAN:
Pull old motor
Pull heads
Check valves, heads for spec, cracks etc...
Slap heads on STOCK ej257 loaded shortblock
Drop motor in with TD04 - Full cat-less ebay exhaust

then hopefully GETADOMTUNE! (or at least something to get me by till Dom gets out here)

http://a511.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/59/l_7c8bd845088389221f357f1d6541583e.jpg

So I drained all the fluids, pulled the radiator, got everything off the top part of the motor and unhooked the Motor mounts, Exhaust, and the 2 bottom most bell-housing bolts... Once my hands are warm, time to go back out and finish pulling the motor...

BlackParis
02-03-2008, 01:19 PM

I had a problem withthe studs... I had ordered them first (2weeks ago) but the guy selling them on ebay was OUT OF STOCK? So I ordered a set from another place, and LUCKILY got a refund from the first guy...

My ebay Buying total for the last 2 weeks was 1171$ and the EJ257 block was 1600+8.25% tax + 60+ for a used TD04

So total of 2963$ :-D

update with no pics.. Engine is in! :-) everything is bolted up... Gotta slap on the intake maniffold and all the pumps/alternator, and fill up the old fluids! Started by noon 2moro guarenteed!

BTW...

I had my 14yo neighbor help me pick the old motor up out of the car.... BUt he "pinched" his finger so he let go and I ended pulling it out by myself..

SOOO...

I just decided to put the new one in by myself :-D My back is hurting now, but it is in!

I do own an engine lift, but it was going to be too much of a hassle to setup.... Figure the block is 80lbs and the heads are maybe 30 each?

Its alive Kinda.....

There was a vent tube (circled red) On the Ej257 block that had to be removed.... Cause it did not clear the NA coolant manifold (drawn in blue).... So What I did was JB weld on my lucky penny to cover the hole! ;) No more scratch offs for me!
http://a215.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/115/l_fac4f986b3d15c4ee2432d5a4bd96f6e.jpg

BUT.... I did this first thing this morning before I put the intake on and started the car.... well... apparently 4hours wasn't long enough for the JB to set and the pennie got moved.... So I re JB'd it and am going to let it set over night... (5pm to 8am) should be set up enough by 8am!

I prolly should have tapped the hole and installed a oil galley plug, but I didn't have a tap big enough...

LoL.. I logged 20 miles... I am breaking her in NA (1800miles).... I still have not figured out how to get oil to the turbo.. Prolly going to get an oil-filter plate and 3ft of braided line :-D

I already modified the subframe, (re-welded in supports) but the 3inch catless Uppipe hits the back of the SOHC head... So I'll have to get something a bit smaller (good thing)... Or just smash the 3inch in with a hammer where it hits the head ;)

But yeah... NA on 8.5:1 is pretty terrible! I think it is slower thaN THE 2.2 legacys....

Ok.. so I've gotten about 800 miles on her so far... The first 100miles she ran like total crap... SLOW BALLZ....

But something learned the new motor and it started running almost as quick as it was (Subaru vtec? LOL)

However about ~600miles I checked the engine codes, pulled a bank 1 lean (ok I have major exhaust leaks, expected) and a Knock sensor failure.. So I got to get a new knock sensor!

Tis all for now, No other problems to report, New turbo stuff will be here monday :D

Today I am re-routing the feed line, and sticking barbed connectors in it where the line melted.. also ordered a new line, but wont be here till next week.....

Oo.. fun to drive.. full boost (8psi) @ 1800rpm :-D YEAH!!! mad torque! getting logged later this week, and maybe a simple tune, till the tuner arrives in april, by then hopefully have a FMIC and more boost :-D...

the LF cv joint broke again... my 4th one in 12kmiles... this last one lasted 2kmiles

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here? its ONLY the LF cv that breaks.. never any others.... the wheel bearing is starting to fail too...

Going to have to buy all new hub/bearing/spindle and a CV again... Looks like I'm not going to get dyno tuned this weekend since I am so broke...

Could a bent control arm or strut be doing this? I dont understand, the last time I had the car aligned to stock spec.. and the suspension is completely stock....

WoW I just read the whole thread and I just have to say.
Paris is probably the most kickass Subaru with a story.
Going from new to hell and back to hell again and back then to hell again and she keeps on running. Makes me wanna just beat the living **** out of my first subaru :D

wow...paris is looking a bit different these days with only one eye, and her jaw missing...no good story or video to go with that? paris was definitely named appropriately for how much she was used ;)

Sad to see her go. But I'm excited to see some action pictures of the E36. I may be wrong, but I believe those are the ones that the strut towers had problems with rotting out or cracking on?
