Well, the CRS BoG meeting happened a bit ago and I never did my report on the RallyX side of it. . .well, rectifying that now!

What changes? Not too many, thank goodness. :D

1. Drops are now counted the same way that FRX counts them - you drop 25% of your events. This is a change from previous years where you dropped 1 of each VENUE - this got confusing and was a pain in the toockus to calculate. Note that this brings CRS into line with FRX on this.

2. Classes are now Stock / Mod / Rally. heck - it's pretty much what we already call it! LOL

3. You may not groove or sipe tires in Stock or Mod. Anyone planning on doing this, well, stop. :D The rule now says that "the original tread pattern may not be modified (siped or grooved).

There were a few other wording changes, but they don't actually DO anything so I won't go over them.

That's it for the CRS Rallycross changes - honestly, nothing earth-shaking except for the drops.

I don't think anyone was...it was something that came up and they decided against it.

Personally, all you're doing is 'modifying' the tire, and its the 'mod' class....so why not allow it? no one's going to sipe their rally tires.

Not true! My Michelins appeared to have been siped!

Yeah, but if we allow siping in the mod class, you can make some very agressive tread designs that were never intended for the class. Home made "mudders" would start to pop up.

As for not siping rally tires, are you smoking crack again?? I told you to stop that!! Lots of teams will sipe rally tires depending on the conditions of the roads on the stage / event they are running. This happens mostly on WRC and high end RA teams as people just don't have the budget to sipe tires to fit one particular stage or race.

The mods allowed in Modified class are car related, not tire related. Modified is limited by tire so modifying the tires would go outside those bounds. . .

But the BoG decided that it was best to clarify that.

Just a quick note to show one distinct difference between CRS and FRX in drops. . .

In FRX, the region is the region is the region. Which is wonderful.

In CRS, which doesn't deal with regions as much and deliberately wants some cross-region action, there is this clause:

In addition each competitor can count his best out of region event as a replacement event for his worst event in his region. Not many know that - so you can play in the other region, get a good result, and substitute it for one event in region. . . throws a little twist in there, don't it?
