the first attempt at starting the car after putting it back together failed. it turns over fine, it even fired once. it's getting fuel and spark. after turning it over several times it flooded (when i pulled the plugs the two nearest the firewall were very wet - the two by the front of the engine were dry. I didn't check spark on all the cylinders - just the flooded ones)

relevant info
fuel tank was completely drained
gas tank dropped and reinstalled
driver's side fuel cut valve replaced
fuel pump assembly removed - stock fuel filter on pump assembly was removed and replaced with a fuel line, an oem fuel filter was installed in the engine bay
interior wiring harness slimmed down (stuff like power locks, keyless entry, side mirror controls, interior lighting was removed - this was done very carefully with the wiring diagrams in hand as a lot of stuff is interconnected. so far the only anomaly is that the hazards do not work but turn signals do)

right now all the plugs are out so the cylinders can air out - I will retry starting when i get home from work

I don't know too much but here are some questions I'm asking myself:
fuel and spark?
Timing issue with the spark electrical signal?
Did you touch the injectors at all?
Was it/Could it have been turning over with only 2 cylinders until the other 2 flooded enough to stop the piston?
How much fuel got out your exhaust valve?
