Octillo Wells Meet (56K warning!!!)

As promised I took a few pics from this event, it was hot as hell, but we had fun. The meeting point didn't go as planned. Only Murtada made it to the caravan point on time and continued on since we weren't there. I thought I was late since I didn't see anyone there when it was just about 9 on my clock so I went on. What I didn't know was the rest of the DI crew wasn't too far behind, they got there minutes after I left and waited there an hour for me. It's too bad cell phones don't work out there otherwise we could've avoided that mess. When everyone got out there finally we did a couple runs on junkies' rally course, but got bored of it since it wasn't that great and way too pitted. So we decided to leave camp and explored. One of the semi-junkies drove out with us, while I hitched along with subyspawn. We managed to get all 4 cars stuck in the sand, one of which happened from trying to free one. The semi-junkie even lost his front bumper on the way back from this. We then headed back to camp and found the junkie crew had gotten told to stop cause it was an organized event with no permit. At that point we just ate lunch, some played around a bit and headed home. Enjoy the pics:

In true DI fashion we invited the guy who lost his bumper over to the site...I told him hes gonna have some pics to look at, so he needs to check them out. Other than the heat it was an ok day, way to hot!!

lol, Indeed the heat was the worst part... Towards the end of the day i could feel the heat of the ground though my shoes... shoveling hot sand wasnt fun either.. haha

people that stop at that stop sign are going to go home and type in DI.com and find nothing

Ya it was fun, but the heat sucked balls. I wish there was someplace closer to the coast where we could have done this, but no one knew of any. I hope to see you guys again if you guys make it to any of the NorCal events. I might try to make it down to some of the SoCal events this next season along with up2.

Thanks, I've been checking them out. Those pictures are great. Looks like I was out of my league following the DI guys. We all had a great time though, despite the heat. Now it's definitely time to get a new subframe brace and skidplate. Anyone interested in a DI-style modded 06 front bumper?

i felt bad. b/c i "jumped it" first and he followed.... not much happend to me having a modded bumper might of helped or maybe b/c i had 3 other people in the car with me making the car not so front end heavy

Hah! no wonder they thought it was an organized event.... theres 5 easy ups there! thats so awesome! I love the picture of the stop sign... if someone does go to DI.com they wont get nothing but rather some weird "nano" scale company...

Very tempting, thinking about it I might be able to get it shipped or somehow tie it to my car on my move to NorCal. I need to setup my move first with the base, and see if they'll be able to ship stuff like this. It'd be nice to have a modified bumper for rallyx only, I could change bumper covers for street and rally modes and to top if off we have the same color car. Would just need to cut off the bottom lip entirely. :mrgreen:

I think in addition to the driver mod that is badly needed, after seeing what's been happening to others with 06/07's another good mod would be a reinforced subframe bracing. Say some thick walled metal tubing or square bar to bolt right on to help prevent tacoing the brace and possibly damaging the radiator, condensor etc.

Lol, and it'd be a funny story as to why it started. All started due to lack of cell phone service and bad timing. I thought I was late to the meeting point cause I said 830-900 and left just before they all got there, so they left that message for me when I had already beent there.

Yea if you look close you can see at the bottom it says 9 til 10, we got there at 9am on the dot!! Lotta triple dig. speeds to get there but I said 8 30 - 9 and we were there at nine. I thought a note and picture would make for some hard evidence....LOL its all good!!!!!!!!

Yep, you got yours, worldrallyblue's, drtwgn and subiespawn, the other is a junkie. The only DI cars not in that pic are Paul's and mine.

Ya, we were only missing a few things. Cooler weather, a better track, less sun, DI stickers to sell, and of course MR DI himself. I learned a lot riding along with subiespawn. We apparently got some of the junkies impressed with some of the stuff we had or were doing, making them wanna learn more :mrgreen: . Passed on lots of tips in true DI fashion, and they're already talking about having another when things cool down this fall. Do I hear another DI meet? So far only 1 of them, the one who lost his bumper, has come to this site. Maybe soon enough of them will get addicted that the SoCal chapter of DI will have a growth spurt. I hearby dub this past weekend's meet DI meet #2. :tongue:

On a second note, are you coming out to thunderhill Aaron?
