Anyone done one on a GD chassis? Just got an email from the dealer saying that they can be a pain in the ass to do.

Not bad at all! I did mine in no time. I would suggest getting Kartboy LONG hangers for your exhaust though, my STi axle back hit without them.
Here is a thread I made over on WRXModders.com There are links to all of my homework, part numbers for wiring harnesses.... http://wrxmodders.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=216&highlight=hitch

Awesome - thanks for that link. I've downloaded the Subaru part install .pdf and will save myself an hour and a half's worth of labor...and give myself a reason to meet the underside of the waggin.
Thanks!

Not a problem, I knew it would help someone else out one of these days! Good Luck on the install!

Interesting, I could use one of these, but I'll prolly end up getting a roof rack before a hitch n trailer.

Actually, it's not for a trailer. It's for a hitch-mounted bike rack. I'm also looking at a roof rack as well - leaning toward the M.O.A.B. rigt now, but my mind changes frequently

I have 2 bike mounts, surfboard tiedowns, snowboard buttondowns, front fairing... the whole 9 yards...

I love my Yakima! I only use it for 2 things though. Snowboarding, and camping. I have the board rack for it, and I made attachments to bolt on my 1985 SEARS roof-top carrier. The faring is nice too!
But, now that I have a trailer, I use that more. I have not had the roof rack on in a year.

Good to hear - I'm planning on using it for camping myself, and maybe as a mount for lights (unless someone on the boards comes up with a light bar for an '07 WRX Wagon first).

What size trailer are you towing with the car?
I was thinking of building a Miata Tire Trailer to carry wheels/tires and tools to the track. I would rather they be outside and locked up then in the car stinking stuff up.
I also have a episode of "Tricked Out" on DIY where the host builds on top of the internet Miata Tire Trailer adding a nitro bottle, nicer wheels/tires and toolchest.

talk about hitches figured i would post a pic of mine. Unfortunately I did not have my fourwheeler in the trailer at the time. I use my trailer all the time people will give you some wierd looks when you pass them on the highway in a wrx pulling a trailer I love it :muhaha: Uhaul was the cheapest place to get one put on for me.

trailer driftingis fun. i worked at u-haul and have installed several legacy hitches, and one outback sport hitch.
i deeboed an extra hitch for myself and tow my enclosed trailer. i tow my other subarus around with a u-haul; towbar that happend to fit all my subarus without any permanent mounts on any of the cars.
receiver hitches are quite universal for towing, platforms, bike racks, and if you have a welder then the possibilities are unlimited. and you can take it off whenever you dont need it.
it's nice to have something to tie onto when pulling cars out of the snow

I use my hitch mainly for bikes. I had a Hidden Hitch brand hitch and found it to be too flimsy and flexy when two bikes were on the rack. I now have a Uhaul brand (I think) and it is much sturdier.

hidden hitch is a brand of draw-tite wich is manufactured by valley/thule which is a vendor for the u-haul stuff
and the other u-haul stuff is cequent and curt, everything but bottom of the shelf walmart reese junk
u-haul is the largest retailer of hitches/accessories for any manufacturer

Just a heads up, when i put my lights on top of my bar i got horrible reflection off my hood and dash, so bad that i actually didn't even use them after a while. I had mine on the front bar not like up2 did (on the back) I have since put them in the bumper

I am looking at putting a hitch on my STi and I was just wondering if anyone has info on wiring a sedan (STi specifically). I have read all your posts fattie92 and from what I gather is the wagons are pre-wired and the sedans aren't..??? Anyone with a hitch encounter any associated problems?
I think I am going with the Curt:

did you try just aiming them up a bit? this happened to me the first time i used my roof-lights too, but they were just aimed too low.
