Hey everyone, I'm wanting to make or buy a screen for my hood scoop to keep all the big chunks of crap out of my TMIC and was wondering if anyone could help me out on where to buy one or how to make one and mount it.

Thanks all

Get an RS... that gets rid of your whole TMIC problem. Those TMIC's just get in the way :P

I'm at work right now, I should be leaving around 1ish. I wanted to get a full 8 in, but I'm nearly done with what I needed to do. I'd be game for helping you out or going for a drive. Rural King may be a good place to start haha

For the grille screen you should just do like Loren or I and make your own. I will post pics of it when my girl gets home. It takes like no time and is really cheap to make but very expensive to buy.

Yeah, i would suggest making your own as well. Those custom screen scoops costs hundreds for some reason. It's time consuming to do, but worth the reward in the end.

The frist one I made was from the gutter screens, but I found a cheaper and more units product. I found, at The Home Depot, A roll of "mesh" simmiler to the gutter covers. It is about 10' in total length and about 10" in height. The cost for said was $5.50 a roll! That was about $1.23 more then a pack of the gutter screens but I had to change the gutter screens 2 times before I got the mesh roll. Its up to you but the roll has seemed to be better for me.

Another option is to mount a screen over the TMIC. Keeps the scoop nice and open, and still stops all the crap from dinging your TMIC fins. You can also add a bit of show with this as well by maskign off WRX (or whatever) on the screen and painting in multiple colors.

make sure you're not using a tight 'mesh'. Use an more open screen....like for a front grill or something. too tight and you will reduce air flow/create a barrier.

I have a friend who's on a race team and they did that for their radiator....they found their temps spiking because the screen was restricting air flow through the rad.

Agreed, but keep in mind that you would be much worse off adding a screen to the scoop than if you added a screen on the intercooler.
