I just realized that I haven’t done an introduction for myself!

My name is Aaron and I live in Southern California with my girlfriend of about 5 years. I work as a Network Administrator for a sunglasses company during the day, and spend the rest of my free time working on DirtyImpreza. I currently own a 2004 Subaru WRX STi that I bought used about a year old. I drive up to the mountains frequently to snowboard, and had actively participated in Autocross for a good year or two before switching over to rally / rallycross. So here I am today, and only months (perhaps weeks) away from buying another Subaru to dedicate 100% to rallying. The STi is awesome, but is very expensive to maintain for all the events I want to do throughout the year, especially since it’s not even paid off! Not to worry though, she’s not going anywhere.

About the site:
I had the idea to start DirtyImpreza.com around the end of 2006. I was driving up to go snowboarding (coincidentally) with two of my Subaru buddies and we were having a conversation about how I was tired of having street suby owners constantly chime in on my off-road threads on some of the other major forums saying things like:

“I would never do that to my Subaru” or “Man, that really messes up your paint, you’re crazy”.

I quickly realized that there was a huge hole in the Subaru Impreza enthusiast world. This hole being a home for people that actually LIKE to get their cars dirty, power through mud and kick gravel all over the place! Not much later, the domain was registered and after a few weeks of hard work developing the site, in January 2007 DirtyImpreza.com was born.

The overall goal for the website is to have an online center where people from all over the country (and eventually the world?) can come together to discuss all things related to rallying and off-road driving in their Subaru Imprezas, regardless of their car’s model year. By using my background in digital video editing I want to consistently produce and publish videos featuring the grassroots racing we are all so fond of. People should check DI for rally news as well!

On a personal note, I am hoping to progress further in the local rallycross circuit, and get as much driving experience as possible. With the new GC project on the horizon, I’d really like to try my first stage rally sometime next year.

Thank you everyone who has joined DirtyImpreza.com. I appreciate all your enthusiasm and support.

-A

anyone into cycling? I'm personally not, but they have a grip of badass RX frames for people that have prescription lenses. I might have some custom glasses made for driving. we make a cool photochromic (changes tint in sunlight) lens thats flexible and unbreakable :P

Good to learn a little background about you!
Way to have the initiative to do something about the "gap" in the Subaru community. I'm definitely happy to have a place to read and share our enthusiasm for the sport.

I'm into mountain biking... :D
That is a pretty awesome site layout, and the glasses look impressive... I like the swappable lenses

Glad you filled the gap in the community. I too am tired of the Street Queen owners giving me crap for being a more diverse driver.

Thanks for the compliments guys. About the glasses, if youre interested in some frames let me know, i can get you a nice deal on some new Rudy's.

screw the peeps that give you crap for getting down in the dirt. Most of them will never become as well versed of a driver as any of the rallycross amateurs out there. It takes a different breed of driver to put their money where their mouth is and charge through the trees on gravel....

"Oh, right. That makes perfect sense. Turn right to go left. Yes, thank you! Or should I say, no thank you. Because in Opposite World, maybe that really means thank you. "
