2007 ARKAS Otomotiv Turkish Rally Championship opened on 7th of April with Ipragaz rally in Izmir. The event consisted of 13 tarmac special stages including super special stage at Izmir Circuit and 2006 Turkish Rally Champion Ercan Kazaz won Group N.
At this event, Ercan Kazaz surprised everyone in the field as the team kept their plans indoors until the start of first round of the Turkish Championship. Atolye Kazaz team made a last minute deal with Lukoil Turkey just a few days before the first event of the season and Ercan Kazaz got into his Lukoil liveried Subaru Impreza for the first time.

As the World Rally Cars will be competing in Turkish Rally Championship for the last time in 2007 season, Turkish Automobile Sports Federation made a small change in points scoring system. WRC drivers scores will be multiplied by 0.9 coeff. against the rest of the field scoring 1 coeff. for the national events. This system proved to be the most challenging as Ford Focus WRC driver Hakan Dinc won Ipragaz Rally, followed by Ercan Kazaz in second place, just to earn 18 points, 1 point more than Atolye Kazaz driver.
The second round of the series was Fiat Rally which was also 2nd round of European rally championship and Intercontinental Rally Challenge. Kazaz wasn't able to get the most out of their Impreza as the pair suffered from set-up problems on the opening day of the event, however Kazaz kept his Impreza on the road, avoiding any possible dramas, finished in 9th overall. Even if it has been a difficult event for the LUKOIL driver but there is a cause fo him and the team to keep on smiling as now Ercan Kazaz leads the Turkish Rally Championship.
The third round "Istanbul Rally" took place on 9th of June as a one day event. Ercan Kazaz was the only one to challange the WRC drivers as predicted, where he completed the event third overall, 42,3 seconds behind the leader. Kazaz has completed the third event of the championship and he is set to keep his place on top of the leader board.

Ercan Kazaz leads the Group N Championship as well by a slight margin as the Turkish Rally Championship reaches half way. "It's been a trouble free event for us. It is really nice to be on the top with LUKOIL's support as there are 3 WRC cars to deal with. But it is better to have this kind of challange and it is more enjoyable to set competitive times with our Group N Subaru Impreza." said Kazaz after the event. "We have a one month break now until the next event, we will do our best to keep up the good work to take both Turkish Championship and Group N titles at the end of the season."
