I touched base with Alex Kihurani (Dave Mirra's co-driver at X Games 14 If you're unfamiliar with his racing career) and he was nice enough to throw a link back to DirtyImpreza.com from his own personal rally blog website - RallyBrat.com (http://www.rallybrat.com)

Check it out! http://www.rallybrat.com/links.html

Alex has done some pretty amazing things so far and he is still so young. I wish him the best in his continuing rally career. :headbang:

For the short amount of time I've been on DirtyImpreza I have noticed quite a bit of awesome publicity aimed towards us. I really like it because now I am apart of the Dirty Cr3w :P

Alex is an amazing guy... I met him in '05 when I worked with him and Matt Johnston (not johnson) at LSPR. He is the reason I checked out pro rally. He convinced me to drive to LSPR, and I thank him for making me go.
Definitely down to earth guy, and easily approachable even if you don't know him.
It's crazy to see how far he has come in the past 3 years.

Huh, not the same kind of experience I had with him...

During 2008 Sno*Drift I came upon Will Corry's STi (Alex was his co-driver) broken down on the side of the road. They were in transit back to Lewiston after one of the night stages. I pulled over, hooked the car up to my wife's Jeep and towed them back to town. After we got back to Lewiston and un-hooked the car all I got from Alex was a "you could have gone faster" kind of remark. I didn't even get a simple thank-you. It wasn't by any means an inconvience for me, but that isn't point either. It just make me wonder how a local or an "outsider" would view rally after trying to help out and getting the rude remarks I had gotten.... Hopefully an isolated incident.

Interesting... he may have been a bit frustrated. I mean... .if you're in the car, broken down, frustrated with your driver, or whoever, it's hard to always take into consideration everyone else. Alex has been an awesome friend and like most people in the rally community, is always eager to answer questions and take some time to catch up.
He is also quite sarcastic, so that may have been the case.

Good point, but definitely wasn't sarcasm.

The rally community is definitely a great group of people. I've helped crew for the Nunnemacher's and both volunteered & spectated at numerous venues across the US over the years. Everybody, including the big names (TP, Ken Block, Cowboy Kenny) that I've met / worked with are the most down to earth, nicest people. Alex is an asset (heck of a co-driver), but it's just unfortunate my one and only encounter went as it did..

My apologies

I was certainly on the brink at that stage once we lost another 3 minutes with a fuel delivery issue that plagued us (and were told was fixed!) after the first service. We were stuck in the dark, in the snow, a good ways outside of town, and watched 5-6 competitors drive by us and not stop to see even if we were ok (very uncharacteristic of rally). You were certainly our saving grace. I needed to get out of the car and into the time control ASAP to minimize us to 3 mins lateness penalty...and I then totally forgot to come back and say anything.

I'm definitely a competitor first, and certainly did NOT intend to come across to someone saving our rally in that way...but we always judge ourselves my our intentions and others judge us by how we come across right? ;-) So I wanted to make sure I took the time (albeit 8 months late!) to give a huge THANK YOU for getting us to the end of the rally and helping us fight on.

Hopefully our future encounters won't be so ****ty! (and that I haven't done this at other times I didn't realize)

And thank you all for the props!
Alex

Thanks! Thought I'd go ahead and finally post. LSPR is still TBD, but Dave said he wanted to run it after we talked post-X Games. We'll see. I'll be in England, but it shouldn't be a problem for me to jump across the pond quick.

Are you heading to McRae stages in Perth Alex?

If so, say hi to my wee brother! He'll be there in the Land Rover doing sweep.
Check out some of his latest photos to see what you are in for. The Drummond Hill stages above Loch Tay are spectacular...just don't go off the road!

You'll love rallying in the UK.
Good luck.

Yep, I'll be there spectating. The entry list just came out and looks awesome http://www.coltnesscarclub.co.uk/documents/entry_list_alpha.pdf

All the accomodation is booked for the weekend so it looks like I'll be sleeping in a ditch or something. Regardless, well worth it!

And sweet blog too.

Thanks,
Alex

I'm not surprised about the accomodation. Perth isn't a large town and this event is going to draw in people from all over the UK. If you are struggling give me a call and I'll put you in contact with some of my family who will set you up with a bed for the weekend.
The entry list is absolutely incredible. Wish I was going.

Glad you like the blog.
