welcome....good luck with the turbo upgrade and tune. Don't let your tuner sell you any BOVs!!!

welcome to the forums! Were happy to have you with us. To stay up to date with future meets and such, be sure to poke your head into the Southern California regional forum. If you do want to try your hand at gettin dirty like the rest of us, there will be plenty of opportunities...
BTW im also in CA, south orange county. Out in corona, youre on the way to the desert!

ditch the BOV, theyre essentially noisemakers. Good for attracting cops on top of doing nothing for performance. (in fact im pretty sure you lean out your A/F when shifting since your ECU thinks theres air being recirculated back into the system when actually its going out into the atmosphere)
Next time we head out to the desert ill shoot you a PM!

welcome to the boards! Awesome to hear you want to get your impreza dirty.
Your vf39 is going to rock.
Any pics of your wrx?
the BOV confuses the ECU, and the sudden change of running rich, then lean, then rich again when you get back on the gas does something screwy with the open loop learning. I don't know why or how, or what else is affects.
I converted the dump valve on my Saab 900 to a 100% atmospheric BOV and after about a year, the engine would idle between 1000rpm and 1500 rpm, rich then lean, then rich then lean etc.
