Hey guys. I'm putting together a modification plan for my 07 STI. I want to be able to have fun autocrossing, rallyxing, and doing some HPDEs. So basically I will want to keep the stock suspension for a decent ride height for rallyx. I'll want to keep the brembos for HPDEs. So with that here are the mods I am planning.

Suspension Mods:
22mm Adjustable rear sway...set full stiff for autox, full soft for rallyx

Power:
Cobb AP
Downpipe and Catback
Maddad Headers?? Could these get in the way of a future skid plate?

Interior:
Sparco Seat and harness
Engine Gauges

Exterior:
Mud flaps
Spec C roof vent :)

Let me know what you guys think about this plan!

Nice plans! Make sure to wrap the headers in heat wrap before install. I don't believe they will be an issue for a skid plate. If you plan on doing rally regularly, I would move the skid plate to the top of the list or even in place of the gauges. You wont really need any gauges at stage 2, so you may not want to waste the cash if you don't have to. Up to your entirely. Just making some points.

Why the roof vent? Just curious why you are planning on cutting your car up. It's not needed and if you change your mind about it, you have a huge hole in your car. Again, not really worth it IMO.

At the top of your list, I would have skid plate, mud flaps, and a diff protector. Once you have those, you dont need anything else to be prepared for rally. That is the bear minimum. The rest is just extras!!

Thanks SubeDave. I definitely understand your points you make. I prob will go w/out gauges now that I think of it. I definitely need to add a rear diff protector to my list.

Skip the header and get a gasket matched ported and polished stock manifold with a high flow cross pipe. That way you don't have to worry about fitment and skid plate clearance.

Yes, porting is a great way to save some extra cash too. Where are you from? There is a great porting company in the Twin Cities with good pricing. You can talk to them if you would like. Tell them I sent you. (763)218.3300. Chimera Performance. Josh or Evan. Worth checking out if you're interested.

Injen makes a good x pipe. Wont make more power, but will decrease time it takes to spool.

A hefty size for skid plates 3/16" for the record. I like the Beatrush one. Kinda spendy, but you get what you pay for. Otherwise, you can make your own. Just make sure to make an upward angled lip in the front so you're not plowing!

Good luck bud.

I think Grimmspeed is a site vendor here and they do porting and coating...check them out.

Isn't the Beatrush one more of a track "undertray" than a skid plate? Or do they have two?

^^Don't know what they call it, but it is 3/16" thick. Call it what you want, it works the same way!

Chimera is run by the guys that used to do the p&p for Grimmspeed. They're both in the Twin Cities area. So check them both out and choose from your experience with both. Nothing against either company.

Awesome guys I'll have to look into modding the stock exhaust manifold.
