So since no one on any other forum that I used to view could answer this I'll try you folks.

Anyone here use the Bilstein HD yellow inserts?

I know how they run in must other vehicles, I tend to always use them in almost every other vehicle I've owned.

But in this case I won't be using them stricly on the street. I was wondering if anyone has used them on dirt roads or rallyX situations.

Are they worth the time to install, its a bit of cutting and drilling like the Koni sports for GC8's.

I'm worried the may be set up like the ones on the 22B as a stiff street valving.

Then again like any Bilstein I could send them back in and have the re-valved a little softer for dirt / street duty.

I have access to them through my Bilstein rep and it looks like there a a few still left in Germany of the rears and a few in the states for the front for a totally different application. Maybe with some work on my end and some interest we can get them to bring them back over and offer them in there catalog. As of right now they don't show up anywhere for the GC or any other Suby other then the Black touring for older Legacy's and those aren't even the good German built ones.

So any insight or words of wisdom well help ease the pain of taken a gamble here.

Yes I know my other options, but I sell Bilsteins and I loved them in the past on the street and I want them on my car.

Post up in the All Wheels Driven vendor forum also... they are experts when it comes to valving Bilstein struts.

True but they are selling there own and its something I'm looking into for when this one becomes a more dedicated toy car. So I don't really want to hijack or step on their toes on that part of the forum.

They are some awesome looking coilovers they are making. Love the gussets on the strut bottom mounts. Right where I twisted up my Teins playing in the gravel.

I just see them as 2 totally different beasts.

Also I'm not to worried about a valve job yet. I just want to know if these will have enough to play a little and hold me over until I can coin up for the All Wheel Driven units.

All my factory ones are blown and I have enough to do some inserts right now.

I'm babbling now aren't I?

So are you asking if people here are interested in a "moderate" Bilstein upgrade? Not PSS9's ?

So far, I see Tokico D-Specs, KYB AGX's as a nice bolt on upgrade and Koni inserts if you want to do some drilling / cutting. They all seem to have their advatages over stock. It would be nice to see another competitor on the market.

Not interested in offering or selling these, but more interested if anyone has used them. It was an old option that I don't think was ever offered here. Also it seems like all the Subaru part numbers have been taken out of all Bilsteins current catalogs.

If I take the chance (which this is more like a plea for someone to make me man up and take the plunge on these) maybe I can ask my rep to bring more of these in and stock them state side. I'm sure there will be a vendor in the Subaru world that could have these as an option to offer and sell them.

I would have nothing to do with them other then being a dirty test bunny.

I'm actually thinking about leaving the automotive work world period. But If I can help once more before I leave I will.

Oh, i didnt realize you were looking into possibly selling them yourself. Yeah probably not a good idea to hit up All Wheels Driven for info then poach in their market... ROFL.

I have Bilstein HDs with H&R "sport" springs on the Corrado and I'd want to get them revalved softer before doing any real off-road driving. They're a lot less forgiving than the (stock) Evo shocks...

If I had Bilstein hookups I'd be fishing for a set of PSS9s :D

Nah I wouldn't want the PSS9's or new PSS10's for what I do to this car. After playing with both the old and new I would go for the new set up for strict street use. Nicer knob, rolled threads, metal spring seats. Nice unit I do admit. I just want to have some street friendly suspension again. I would rather save up and get the All Wheel Driven units when I go back to coilovers. They just did a great beef up on the bottom ends where the PSS look flimsy compared to the Teins I had them bent right quick.

I think I still have them somewhere in my broken parts collection. I'll see if I can find and share some nice images.

I bit the bullet, I should hear from my rep tomorrow if its possible to even get these parts and see how long it may take. He said something about having the California branch possibly recreating the missing part to my Frankenstein suspension.

Why do I do this to myself?
