here is the plan for now:
impreza GT-00 wagon W. a torque upgrade ala twin ity bity turbos *dreaming* (most likely software upgrade) aiming to diminish spool by 1-1.5K rpm

question is will the gearbox hold for this kind of crazyness?

p.s. i suck at heel-toe and cant stop trying.

I would upgrade the gears if possible. Anything over 300 whp is pushing that tranny. If you can afford it I would put in a set of straight cut gears for first through fourth. They are fully syncroed but you will never blow a gear. I think they run 3800 from ppg.

well, if you're just getting a tune (is that what you mean by software upgrade?) your stock tranny should be fine.

twin turbos....a dream? then yes, you can also dream about PPGs....but remember those are the rolls royce of race gears, and 3800 is just parts. don't forget tranny rebuild, installation, upgrade syncros and selector fork (hey, if you gonna do PPG's, do it all), and you're looking at over $5K for 1-4 straight cut.

^^ this is what I would get, but again...I'm looking at a rull race application in 12 months. either way, no upgrade until something breaks.



1-4 helical are closer to 3400.

1-4 straight cut are around $5K.

finding a turbo that will charge .8-1 bar at 2K rpm and that will be able to keep a reasonable flow until 6000 rpm i imagine is no piece of cake. massive HP is no fun in my opinion quick HP is the bomb! im afraid that torque could be a problem.
im aiming for a WRC car type curve with less HP and no ALS. so lets call it dreaming until i pull it off.

lets see....1bar = 14.5psi.

.8 bar = 11.6psi.........at 2krpms? Not all that hard, my 20g hits 250wtq at ~2500rpms. I think its around 15-16psi there.

a 16g will spool faster.

will depend on what your compression ratio is.


all I'm saying is, wait until you pull it off. when you do, you don't necessarily need the most expensive gears you can possibly get for a subaru.

im getting into competitive driving more and more since ive joined DI. i havent studied up on what kind of rally yet tho. i probably will need it for general transport too
