When I had been doing Stage rally and Dirt trial in Japan long time ago, I used to use rally inner tube with rally tire.
But, how is it now? Everybody are using rally inner tube or inner tube is no longer standard? If it's still standard, where can I get this?

The Mouse is illegal to use in stage rally in the usa, so I doubt you will find them. Would be nice to run lower pressures for performance.

Really, I didn't know that. This is why I couldn't get a lot of information in google search.

Isamu, you did stage rally too? Cool.. tell us more.
btw you should set up a member journal, I wanna hear about what is happening with the yellow monster.
OH. I just got it.. mouse = mousse (squidgy stuff in tyres).

i wonder why its illegal? something to help keep your tires in one piece, finish better/more often, not totally destroy rims.....huh.

I'm confused due to my poor English skill....
Is this a mousse??
This is what I'm discussing. I called this "Rally inner tube".

I think we're all a bit confused. The inner tube is what I thought it was, at least. Exactly the same thing as on a bike tyre (at least, the last time I looked which admittedly was a very long time ago). It means that you can damage the tyre (the tyre carcass - the bit with the tread on it) without it going flat.
I took the "mouse" to mean "mousse", in other words the gel stuff that they use in Rally-Raid, and used to use in WRC, that gave yet another level of protection. The inside of the inner tube is coated with mousse/gel - if you damage both the carcass and the inner tube, the gel is pushed into the hole and stops the air from leaking, meaning that you can get the end of the stage. It's a bit like the "tyre slime" stuff, only much more high tech.
It was outlawed in WRC for this season as I recall, a wrong-headed move IMO. There were some early problems with it coming loose and putting the wheel out of balance, causing horrible vibration, but I think they had those sorted.
I don't see why you couldn't use an inner tube without mousse though, if it was allowed.

Looks like modern mousse systems for cars don't use the inner tube. So I dunno..

I used an innertube on a wheel at RIM last year. They are great for rally tires with slow leaks - which you'll find are pretty common. Cost like $20 installed with the tire and work well when using low air pressure.

Yeah, id be interested in this too. I figured be meant an innertube like a bike tire...
I am pretty sure you can still find inner tubes at smaller tire shops around - but, I have heard of overheating problems especially when running lower air pressures because the inner tube rubs against the inside of the tire and builds up heat / rubs through to the point that it won't hold air anymore...
oh, and we used moose tubes in dirt bikes 5+ years ago but it was just a thicker tube & in mountain bikes 15 years ago we used some rubbery substance (I think it was called goop or something) but of course the tires were smaller and spinning them to get equal balanced coverage was pretty easy once you put the stuff in...

That R4 events guy is uneducated, and can't spell. lol :) We ran inner tubes in the snow tires but never on a regular Rally Tire :)

i have a set of Dunlop Rally tubes in the snow tires i have mounted on the Enkei Rally rims i just picked up. They're for 15" tires, it specifies a usable range on the tubes.

Yes, just on one as it was the only one that wouldn't hold air. Rally tires are funky sometimes. Perfectly new tire, just had a slow leak.
Tire shops typically carry them in stock.

A guy at the tire shop said that a concern is the tube moving inside of the tire at low
pressure and possibly popping the tube, but this was in a drag racing situation with monster slicks, so I think their psi was well under 10 - something we don't have to deal with.
