OK, so the whole project started last Aug when I found the 2001 Sedona Red Pearl RS that a member of the local Subie Club traded in at a dealer. I bought it for a darn good price at the time, $5800. It wasn't perfect, but it was in decent enough shape for the price. The plan then was to trade my '05 GD RS in for a new car for my wife (despite the fact that she LOVED the way the GD handled) and have some mild fun with the GM6. She got her new '07 Outback in Nov and I started the RallyCross buildup plans for the red car...
Original plan was to stay NA and add a front LSD to the car for reliability purposes and not having to deal with turbo lag. That all changed when we tore the block down and found lots of issues with it including not being able to get the wrist pins out to get inside for bearing and ring replacement. Along came a nice 1995 WRX RA 2.0L closed deck motor for a good price and the plans quickly changed to boost! Just before the RA motor was due to arrive, another Subie buddy and my codriver for the Nat level RX events found a wrecked Aspen White 2000 RS with a Salvage title for $3800. A couple quick phone calls and we got the car AND the parts for the asking price. With 2 cars available the plan was to take the best parts from both and put them on the Daily driver (and STS Solo car). That way the junk could be thrown out as we weren't going to need it for an M4 RX car! Fast forward to today and the red '01 is getting the motor out of the wrecked car as I type this and the RA motor will go into the white Salvage car!!!
