so today i noticed there was grease beeing sprayed all over in my wheel/around the brakes/strut/disk area. so i jacked up the car and looked around it doesnt look like the cv boot or axel is leaking because that was all try but it looks like its comming from the berring or the little silver ring next to the cv boot. so i think my seal might have busted. thats awsome right?

my rear drivers side caliper might also have a leak because the line is fine but i keep occasionally seeing yellowish gold liquid on it that matches the color of my break fluid.

my cd player also keeps freaking out and spitting out some of my cds.

my car also keeps starting hard

oh and my day gets better i wasnt able to get hired for the job i went into an interview for even though i was totally qualified and the guy said i had a very impressive resume and lots of skills that they need their employees to have but they just went on a hireing freeze 2 days before my interview... it was a 30 miles each way drive in rush hour freeway traffic. TODAY IS AWSOME!

how much do you guys think it will cost to fix the front wheel berring and then the leaky caliper... will i need to replace all 4 berrings or all 4 calipers or just the ones that are broke

if you get your bearing fixed before it takes out the hub, you will spend half as much. i think both together were $550-600 at the dealer IIRC.

yeah if you remove the knuckle yourself then you can save on the labor cost. and by doing that you may discover your brake leak, and iy will most likely be the line somewhere than the caliper itself. check the banjo bolt where the line fixes to the caliper.

i just did 2 cv axles on a legacy in 2 hours and took pics so i will be writing a tutorial here soon.

the bearings look like they may be able to be popped out with a drift punch, as like in ilder subarus, now that i got a good look at one.

the bearings are NOT removed with a drift punch. I have seen alot of damaged knuckles because people cut the side of the bearing race with a punch. the bearing is to be pressed out.

you have to use a press.

With the barrings, it is a good idea to at least replace two of them. It's not the best idea to run on one good barring, and three older ones. Two good, two old isn't the cheapest. But it's smarter than just replacing one.

As for brakes, I live by the fact that if you fix one, you fix the rest. New brakes have saved my life, and that wouldn't have happened if I had just fixed the one that was having problems.

That's just my advice, you don't have to follow it.

no.... thats completely in accurate my car is totally subaru. the only part not subaru specific is the front hood, bumper, back hatch, and back bumper. every other part of the saab 92x is straight from subaru and fuji heavy industries.

actually the saab and subaru are both gm misfits. they are both identical drive train wise. as far as the bearings go just do one at a time, just fix the next one when it breaks. where is the caliper leaking from? there may be a reflash for the hard start problem. also check out your batt make sure it is healthy.

i know it is... but my car is not really gm at all. most of the new saabs are but mine was 99 percent subaru you can check it out with subaru they all know how to fix anything on it once you explain what the car is all the saab and gm guys are totally lost and if you look at 92x.com it has all sorts of facts about the car and how every thing is completely swapable with a subaru wrx wagon or 2.5i wagon. ive looked at all sorts of stuff about my car on the web and inspected it in person every thing is stamped with subaru or fuji heavy industries. i also know a mastermechanic that inspected it and said every thing was subaru that was stamped subaru on a real subaru. things like the window switches and stuff are stamped toyota or mitsubishi like they are on the real impreza as well.

only things changed were some of the out side. diff interior, sound deadening, different stock brakes (origninal plan. but decided for financial reasons to keep them stock rs brakes) and different spring rate springs. every thing else is stamped subaru/fuji heavy/ sokomoto with subaru next to that (my muffler)

btw all that ended up being broken was my inner cv axel boot and it was leaking oil every where. which isnt that bad other than it being expensive to fix. i even got my whole fuel system and brake system checked every thing else is fine it was just the axel boot was ripped.
