View Full Version : Team Dynamics wheels group buy?

so I'm planning a few months in advance, but I need to pick up some 15" rally rims in about 3-4 months....maybe sooner. Wanted to see what it takes to get a group buy going? With the dollar the way it is, $200/each is expensive!
oh, yeah...and of course I'm talking about going through Paul at Team Illuminata, assuming we get enough follks, I'm hoping he can figure something out for us. :)

I'm sure Paul would be willing to work something for you guys... DI is swooping up on TD's and Hankooks! Right now he has free shipping on the TD which is really nice, because shipping on heavy/ bulky items will get ya.
I'm already set for wheels ATM so im not voting ;)

Thanks!
I am down for this group buy for the long haul. I want to head out to another rallyx but I still have fuel cut with my maf all cleaned up. Looks like I have some other issues to figure out.
Plus I want to upgrade my toyota pickup to a ford turbo diesel. Come on tax return!

now we just need Paul to respond ;)
7 people on the poll....that's at least 28 rims. If the price is right, I'll be getting 6.
I will need 4 rally wheels sometime in the future -
my TD wheels that I had cracked badly but in their defense, I was using the lighter weight tarmac type ProRace TD wheels for rally-x/rally stuff and they just could not handle 250ish hp going through the front wheels and the side impact forces that went along with gravel

He posted in another thread that the groupbuy price was 5% off stock.
http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/showpost.php?p=62276&postcount=43
Only +53 in white or silver in stock right now.
We can do a group buy at 5% off.
I am locked in with my setup which is the same as Draco-REX's. :guitarist:

so since we're on the topic, here's a question for the group.....any advantage to running the 15x7 vs 15x6 rims? strength? weight? Offset doesn't matter to me as I'm sticking with WRX brakes.
I don't see myself ever going wider than stock width for rubber, so I was leaning towards the 15x6's (a few bucks cheaper too).
I can't think of anything, but wanted to see if there's something I missed.

Paul and I were talking about this before I bought my TD ProRally1's, and based on our conversation, I decided that 15x6 made more sense. Here's what Paul had to say on the matter:
Either tire [195 or 205] will work with either wheel [6" or 7"]. Opinion seems to be divided on the matter. I use 7" and have 205 but I could better utilize 195 as I run normally aspirated. 6" are cheaper and lighter of course but not by much. Used 195 rally tires are more abundant than 205, yes. Not very helpful eh?
Hopefully he doesn't mind me posting from his email. I chose the 6" because they are lighter and cheaper, yet can still run both tire widths. I also felt that they were a "better fit" for the more common 195 width tires, which may or may not be true. As you can see, Paul claims that either tire works fine with the 6" wheel.

it would all depend on what tire size you want to run. pretty sure you don't want to be runnin a 215 on a 6" wheel. if you don't plan on running a tire that wide, than the 6" should be fine.

I agree...I think the only reason you'd go that wide it for tarmac rally's, in which case I'd run different rims anyway.

Hi guys. Yes, I'm in England for another week, just less. Internet access is sporadic at best so I am missing quite a few things like this group buy poll for instance.
If we have eight or more sets of wheels wanted we can do a 7% off group buy. I would need these wheels all ordered at the same time for this offer so will have to set a time limit. I know some of you were planning ahead a bit and some were ready now. How do you want handle this? Two group buys?
UP2MTNS
04-10-2008, 02:11 PM
thanks Paul!
well, like the poll says....3-4 months. I'm waiting for a few commission checks to come in before I drop +$1K on rims and new tires.
If I push it...maybe in two months? For those that are 'NOW'.....can you wait?
any added benefits to doing it all at once? deals on shipping, etc?
btw, looks like I'll be placing an order for 4 BLACK pro rally1, 15x6, 49 offset
If you can get us free shipping, I'll buy 5 ;)

Need to get numbers on this group buy for Pro Rally 1 wheels.
How many are ready to buy now (order placed by 5pm EST April 24th)?
How many would be ready in 2 months?
5% off for a group of 4 or more. 7% off for a group of 8 or more.

I wouldn't be ready till middle-end of May.

I can jump on this whenever. Right now I will not be rallyxing for a while but I have the cash set aside.
Also would the 7% carry onto the whole order? I need wheels, tires, hubrings and lugnuts.

if we can all do this at once, I'd love to get 7% instead of 5.
Paul, can you set a 'order by' date for end of May or maybe first week of June? Does that work for everyone? By the poll that would be 8 orders.....right now we have 4 confirming end of may works.

replied to your PM before I saw this Paul, so disregard that question.
everyone- so Paul asked me to coordinate this group buy, which means I'm pushing for at least 8 order of 4 rims (or more) by late May/early June...no later than June 7th. In fact, lets make that the tentative 'order by' date. If we get everyone up and ready earlier, then we'll play that by ear.
Please PM ME with your order including all relevant info for the rims, and if you want to order anything else along with it (lug nuts, whatever). However ONLY THE RIMS will be discounted appropriately. If Paul has some other sale going on in May/June, that's up to him.
In your order, please include the EARLIEST you'll be ready to order. If you say you're ready to order by may 20th, and I place the order on the 25th, and it turns out you're not ready, you're gonna ruin it for the rest of us and I'll publicize it online and we'll make fun of you accordingly and let the air out of your tires at the next rallyX you attend ;) (j/k, but not really)
that's all for now. save your pennies as this WILL happen!

I will post this publicly so everyone will be on the same page.
I was hoping that my car issues would be easy to fix but it looks like they will not be easily fixed and they will cost some loot. So time and money to make the car work come before getting wheels and tires for it. It would end up looking cool in a corner of the driveway waiting for parts and a tune.
Plus I need tools for the garage. I need a tubing bender to make stuff for the guys in the car club. The wheels and tires can bump me to a hydraulic bender.
I think long term I will be a dirty impreza member with a turbo diesel truck and an unregistered civic/or old na impreza for a rally car.
The WRX needs to work as a kiddy carrier still and there are just too many hurdles to cross right now.
Responsibilities first.
Sorry Fellas.

in case any hasn't figured it out yet, I'm going to have to cancel/postpone this due to lack of interest and people saying they were interested, decided to put on their mother's panties and make up some lame-o excuse for backing out.

7% off list price.....so, about $176.70/rim plus shipping.
I honestly don't have the cash for this right now anyway.....I already have 6 rims and I need cash for Seed 9 rally.
i'm also saving for a new transmission as I expect my stock one to die any day now....lol.
