I posted this on NASIOC and i am wondeirng what all you guys think. I think I will order my new clutch and possibly a gruppe-s forged flywheel from gruppe-s maybe tomorrow. I am leaning towards the gruppe-s forged Lightwieght Flywheel.... because everyone says alot of good things about it.... but people on NASIOC have told me to stay with resurfacing the stock one. Any info or opinions would be helpful.
Ok..... so it looks like I need to upgrade my clutch (After Destroying it Last Saturday "Dirty Impreza Meet #1"). I am looking at the ACT HD Street Clutch and I am wondering what everyone thinks about what kind of Flywheel I should go with?
Here are the options:
A. Have my stock Flywheel Resurfaced
B. Gruppe-S Forged Flywheel
C. ACT Streetlite
D. ACT Prolite
Any opinions or experiences with those flywheels will be appreciatted.
I have an 04 wrx with a TBE and a modified cobb stage 2 map.
Thanks,
Albert
p.s. big ups to flux

My flywheel experience is with honda's, but a flywheel is a flywheel.
The ACT is a good product. No long term experience, but it is a good company and product.
I would personally never buy aluminum, nor would I resurface my flywheel.
You don't want it to be too light. My roommate has an 8 lb flywheel on his prelude and its WAY TOO LIGHT. you push in the clutch and the revs go to zero instantly. He drops out of his power band way too quickly no matter how fast he shifts. His also chatters like a SOB on take off. Most others don't seem to have this issue with the same setup, so who knows.
I had a clutchmasters 12.2lb chromoly flywheel on my prelude for about 40k before selling the car and loved it. Not too light, not too heavy.
On this car, when it gets time to replace it, I will be going with another, middle ground weight, chromoly flywheel from a big name company. No offense to groupe-s, but I never want to break open the tranny unless I have to. I will spend the money the first time and get something like a clutchmasters or ACT Streetlight, Fidanza etc.

Thanks for the reply shakes,
We installed my new ACT HD Street Clutch this last weekend. I decided to go with the ACT StreetLight flywheeel. So far i got some shudder going into first, reverse and from third to second. But from everyting I read the shudder reduces greatly after the break in period... I can't wait.

The shudder should die down as everything breaks in...
Where did you end up getting everything installed?

We did it in my parents garage. It was by far the biggest thing I have done to a car or truck. But I am really happy now that I know how to do it and understand exactly how everything works. Sometimes the best thing to do is to tear something apart and try to piece it back together to completely understand it. I picked everything up at South Coast Subaru. Unfortunately they gave me the wrong release bearing (for impreza, not WRX). We could 've probably had it done in one very long saturday..... but instead we finished it off monday night after 6 more hours of labor.
Currently at about 350 miles. Shuddere has lessened going into first.... but there is still alot of shudder going into reverse(ALOT!!). But other than the shudder, shifting feels wonderful, the Clutch Pedal is not really much stiffer(at first it seemed twice as stiff but i am you'st to it now), and rev matching and downshifting is alot easier to predict.
