I'm calling the event off - at least as a points event. If you want to risk it and head out there to play, be my guest. However, there's WAY too much water being dumped around the area, and Jean (and the other associated dry lakes) are destinations for all of that water.
My email to the event stewards:
Okay, I've been watching the weather reports religiously - they're open in another computer on my desk.
According to the maps, Jean has gotten at least one shower.
Chance of rain in Jean is increasing throughout the night.
I can't, in all good conscience, ask people to check the weather at 3:00am before leaving San Diego to drive 5-6 hours to get to Jean.
I'm going to call it, at least for our people. Sorry - but it's too tight and we'd be traveling to far to find out that it's under mud.
Obviously, run it with you and yours if it's clear. Have fun and be safe!
I'm just not going to drive out and I'm not going to ask people to drive a minimum of 3 hours (I'm the closest and that's my drive time) to risk a mudbath . . .
Sorry! We'll work something out for a reschedule!
