the black gorilla lugs that were purchased for the DI RS...are they anodized black or painted?...price just seems too cheap for anodized lugs.

From what I can tell from my set, they are painted. Which is just as well, because I doubt that anodization would hold up as well.

I did a bit of research in Gorilla's catalogue and it describes them as "Black Chrome" http://www.natmetal.com/chrome.htm which seems better than paint. When I look at them now that makes more sense.

i'm missing a lugnut, I may have to pick up a set. So these are strong enough for racing/rally use? Aaron, this is what you're using on the rally car?

We used Gorilla lugs on last years Formula SAE car. They worked great!

I got them because they were cheap, used a 19mm socket, and my stockers were worn out. The added bonus is that they're long enough you can spin them all the way down to seat on the wheel without having trouble getting your fingers on them.

I do have my doubts on the longevity of the black treatment as it chipped in a few places on the first time I torqued them down. But for a buck twenty? Damn good deal!

Yeah they are nice. I used them to mount the rally wheels on the rally car and they go on and torque down perfectly. I like how they are a bit longer than OEM lugs so you can get them started easier with gloves on, etc.

Yes i agree. Get rid of those OEM chrome lugs, and get some black ones up against that bronze / gold... :headbang:
