oil use?

how bad is it if before i hit my 3k mark to get my oil changed i end up burning alittle and it drops just below the f on the dipstick then i fill it back up to the notch just above the f on the dip stick is that normal or am i burning oil at a fast rate

sounds ok, as long as it's not 2-3 quarts you are ok, a little oil use is expected :mrgreen:

up to about 45k miles, I was burning 1quart (high mark to low mark) every 3kmiles...

But @ 60k I started burning a quart every 1000 and when the origional block died @ 66kmiles it was burning a quart in 500miles....

a little bit of oil consumption is normal. i usually have to add about 1/2 a quart halfway through each oil change cycle

With my 2.5RS, I have to add about 1 qt. (rotella T 15w-40) every 1500 mi and it has 160,000 miles on the ODO.

With my Outback XT I have to add 1 qt. (Mobile 1 synth 5w-30) every 2500 mi and it has 36,000 miles on the ODO.
