The first picture of your car is just awesome! I am so bummed I am not going to make it to the next event...I really hope SVR puts one on soon

yes I love them all.
The first and third one are on the back chicanes where we never lifted...at all! That was silly fast.

The second pic shows we were cutting close to those cones which might explain how we took out 4 during the day...

Justin (sti) was on it that day. His times just got quicker and quicker. We couldn't catch him. Very impressive.

On that course you pretty much had to get close to the cones, there was no room to do it any other way.

Great event! I hit a ton of cones, but learned a lot about handling the car on gravel and the limit of the tires.

Sometimes you didn't want to be too close. There were a couple of sections where it was faster to make one long fast sweeping corner out of two tighter slower corners...
One section was the right turn at the end of the back straight in the afternoon. It looked like two rights but you could make it one by going in wide and coming out tight to the cone...if you know what I mean!
If you went into the turn tight to the cone then you were all screwed up for the following corner and you'd have to scrub speed to make it.

It's one of those situations where sometimes its faster to drift using all the space you have rather than keep tight.

Very soon, that's the thing that will bring the series to a halt. I love running with you guys, but I just don't think safety is the most important factor in course design as it should be.

What have you seen at the events up here that you didn't like? I'm just curious, I've done three events and have felt course design on all of them was very safe

when I say silly fast I mean silly in a fun way...it was never dangerous. Plenty space, loads of run off and we were never out of 2nd gear. The turns just werent as tight as theyve been in the past so you went from one corner into the next briskly!

I agree with you to an extent Orion. There was one section of the course this weekend that I thought could have been designed better. I'm talking about the part near turn 2 (morning) or turn 5 (afternoon), it was a little too close to the fence IMO. I was working corner 1 and 6 and saw many cars sliding within a couple feet of it, and a few cars almost hit it. That said, it was small a chain link fence and the speeds were pretty low, so the damage would have been minimal and I doubt anyone could get injured.

I don't think that anybody wants to see Rallycross get canned and I firmly believe safety is always the 1st priority of the officials and participants.

Racing is dangerous. I've seen many poorly designed autocross courses... hell, there were 2 or 3 crashes at the Detroit Region SCCA Autocross at Waterford Hills last summer. Rallycross is inherently more damaging to your car than autocross because of the rough terrain and a bigger chance of a rollover. Point is... you can't make racing 100% safe, that's the nature of the sport, but I think that the officials do their best to make it as safe as possible.

yeah, not too much room for error here.

NICE PICTS GUYS!

Is there anything going on this weekend? I will be in MI (Lansing) and MI looks like the only place that I can get dirty that I know my way around.

Congrats on the finishes guys!

That looks closer than it actually is to the fence. There is plenty of space and you'd have to be doing something terribly wrong to get near it.

There's been a lot of issues with Scott's courses. A quick FYI, an RS on the limiter is 57mph, which is WAY too fast for RX. I've hit it without wheelspin more than I should...

I'm not going to take the time here to discuss all of it as David has cleared up a little for me.

I do wish I could make it up there more often as they are a blast to run despite some of the issues. I also miss the fun of hunting down faster cars with the old open-diffed piggy that was my '05 RS!!!

The motor is out of my car currently, but it looks like we might not have it back together in time for Adrian on the 21st. Keeping my fingers crossed until then!!

Here's a Fowlerville pic from last year's CenDiv:

BTW - I'm not driving...
