Looking for some help?? just picked up a 2002 impreza wrx last week, but there is something wrong with it. Im trying to pin point the problem. Its a 5 speed. The car starts find and everything, but when i release the cluth about 80% of the way and the car starts to roll forward i start to get this loud grinding noise and the car jurks(the car rolls slow but when its starts to pick up a little little more speed thats when the noise sarts) i dont think its the cluth. kinda thinking a axle or worse case tranny. Looking for help???what does everyone think??

Buy it from a private sale?

If it was a dealer take it back ASAP.. have it towed back dont even drive it...

Does it do it if you start in 2nd gear?

I picked it up private party.....$4,000!!! the guy told me something was wrong with it, he just wasnt sure what. So for $4,000 even if it is the tranny still was a deal. Its easy to find a tranny with 40-60,000 miles on it easy for about $800 or less. Just dont want to start tearing things apart and that wasnt what was wrong with it. Havnt tryed to start in second yet........thanks

axle should be easy to look/check.

could be 1st or 2nd gear is busted pretty good....careful.
