so when if i was hypothetically sliding around corners in a parking lot with dry asphalt and there was a wierd vibration and stuff comming from my car. the same sort of feeling as when the car bogs down in like fifth gear at a low speed where it doesnt die but keeps trying to run kinda feeling and sound. Is that from my abs/system stability control kicking in trying to keep me from spinning out? cause the tires squeal then you get the car to completely break loose and slide out and it then does the weird vibration.
even if i hypothetically went into a corner in first gear at 4k rpm it still does that

check your rear suspension...maybe something is bent or broke and the suspension isn't holding properly under load? Does it do the save vibration in either direction?

yea i think it did do the same thing on both directions. what do you think could be broke? i noticed one time that a bolt on my rear sway bar looked like it might have been crooked but didnt think much a bout it i figured it was just tightedned wrong. i have crubed my car one time but it was on the right tire and just lightly like as i was turning out of an intersection at 5 mph or so. there was no curbrash on the wheel after that and the tire didnt look hit so i might have even just bounced it off the curb. the bolt that looked crooked was on the left side if your facing the back bumper
it only happens when you get the back end to slide out to the point of no tire squeal where its just like tire grinding and over steer

Anytime you see something that looks wrong or odd on your suspension, do NOT take it lightly. If there really is a bolt that isn't in correctly then the next step is something breaking and possibly causing a wreck or injury. Check it out and get it fixed.

i was looking and there are bolts with washers behind the two points by your axel that drop down. they have a small hole in the washer is that for aligning something? one is almost striaght up and the other is angled a little bit different. could this cause things to look slightly twisted at all? i ordered some sti pinks and was planing on getting an alignment a week or so after.

are you saying tis like the engine is bogging down or that there is something messed up in the suspension?
you first post, sounds to me like, you are complaining of a "bogging"
if this is the case try doing RIGHT after you fill the fuel tank ;) see if it does it then ;)

haha im sure it isnt the gas problem...lol
the picture looks like its either a bent sway bar... or shot bushings.. cause yeah the bolt isnt in the middle of the washer

I see nothing wrong in ANY of the pictures he posted.. the off center washer is an eccentric bolt for toe adjustment, supposed to be like that....
I'm just saying the way I read the FIRST post it sounded like he is complaining of an engine problem, not suspension.... So checking to see if the gas tank is full is a good start.... Subaru has a very poorly designed fuel pickup, the gas seems to slosh around the tank like crazy, I never autox with LESS than 1/2 a tank for fear of the engine bogging out...

no i was just saying it had the same vibration feeling as that. i didnt really know how to describe it.
i did some more sliding today on a dirty/small rock scattered parkinglot and had my dad ride in the car to try to feel it or look at what the car was doing from the out side. it did fine spun tires the whole way slid around and didnt vibrate at all. i think it might have been tire hop or something like that. the other difference is that my mom and sister where in the back. the day i did it no one but me was in the car. i think what caused it was just sliding the back end out and haveing re92s with big sidewalls must have just caused the tires to pop over and skip.
so my bushings are bad? as well as the bolt on the left endlink? where can i buy some parts for that? how much do you guys think they should be? what other bushings should i replace with this?

I guess I am not understanding your problem.. i see nothing wrong in your pics... see if it can do it on video ;)
This kit will lock the rear subframe and diff to the cars body for a MUCH tighter feel.. If you are getting this, install it BEFORE getting an alignment...

how exactaly does that kit work/ how do i install it? will it void the warrenty?
and my problem is i was just experiencing tire hop and i didnt know that. at least thats what i believe it was. also my bushings are bad. my bolt is also bent in the left endlink. need to know where to get new ones

the kit:
the 2 blots go into the lockdown holes (when your aligning the car subaru uses these same bolts that lock down the subframe for a perfect alignment) basicly it HOLDS the centerline of the subframe perfectly center witht he whole body... the 2 big bushings fit on the Differential front bushings and the 4 small buhings fit on the differential to subframe mounts...
The bushings arent that hard to install, just need a jack and a few simple tools, the lockdown BOLTS are the hard part.. Spray some WD-40 in the hole and ram em up in there with an impact gun...

When I first read the OP I thought it sounded like the normal (but disconcerting) sounds you hear when driving your car hard in an auto-x type situation (barreling into hard turns and such).

Sounds like you've already diagnosed the problem. After being thoroughly confused trying to figure out what you were describing I went back and read it again slowly trying to put myself in the car. Seems to me like it is just tire shake.
The kit Paris reccomended is a good idea, but I'd guess that a good alignment along with having your wheels re-balanced and properly torqued will probably eliminate your problem.
Good luck and keep us informed if you find anything else out.

You have anything useful to contribute?
Actually the only cars I've ever run at auto-x are our old A4 (pushy slug) and the LGT (surprisingly nimble for a big wagon).

Hes just in it for the count!
I think he needs to stick to the general forums and O/T...
The kit I recomended will reduce wheel hop and makes the car ALOT more respozive in turns...

He never does. :machinegunleft:
Reading that it doesnt happen with people sitting in the back, ya it does sound like it could just be wheel hop. Which really wouldn't sound too unusual on asphault with the rear wheels spinning. I might suggest getting out a torque wrench and verifying all your nut and bolt torques though just to be on the safe side. It doesn't have to look loose for it to actually be loose.
You have anything useful to contribute?
are pictures considered useful?

wheel lugs should be on tight probably on at over 85 ft of tourque. (dont own a tourque wrench. i am looking into the kit though. the hard part is finding a place to install it cause it doesnt really come with directions and i only know like one shop that i could go to and he is normally pretty buisy. the other thing is there is only one lift at that shop.
the other thing is that i they are supposed to add lots of noise and vibration to the ride and sence its my DD i dont really want to add much more noise or add lots of vibrations to it.

I'm pretty sure he did read the rest of the thread. I'm also pretty sure he's poking some good-natured fun at you because of your comments and "troubleshooting". You are offering advice without experience, and poor advice at that at times... not knowing what an eccentric bolt is for in the suspension or discounting the gas pickup offhand as a potential problem shows clearly your lack of knowledge. I'm not trying to bag on you or be mean or anything, I'm just saying it how I see it. You have a lot of posts from offering up "advice" on every topic you find, and people are going to rib you about that from time to time.
Don't get mad... stick around, learn a few things, and make that RSTi a reality. Also, post a bit less on stuff you don't know
