I need some clarification from what the rulebook says for Production GT and what you can do / use for a clutch.

C. Production Category

21. Clutch and Pressure Plate with Flywheel
The material and method of attachment of the clutch linings are free.
These units are free except that the flywheel must be of the same
material as offered from the manufacturer and fall within the
specified minimum weight.

This is in regards to the clutch replacement i need to do on the 2001 RS i have. Sounds like i need to keep the OEM flywheel, not problem.

Were i am confused is, does this mean in can use an OEM replacement clutch (like an exedy or somthing else). Or do i have to use a subaru OEM clutch...

the OEM units are quite a bit more, and i need to have my slipping clutch replaced. I just need to be sure im buying the right thing. Id like to save some money going aftermarket if at all possible, but not if it means being illegal in PGT.

Thanks for any help! ;)

this says to me that the clutch is open to whatever you want to use. however, I'd ask the same question over on SS and you'll get a better answer there.

SS is down for maintenance right now... bummer.

I got a little bit of feedback on RS25.com and they think im good to go for an OEM replacement clutch, so long as i use the stock flywheel (non aluminum).

I read this to say that the disc and pressure plate are 'open' & the flywheel may be changed as long as it is the same weight and material as OEM... which basically means use any clutch you want but you need to use an OE flywheel.

some rules changed for 08' so make sure you are reading an 08' rulebook.

Disk and Pressure plate are open in P-gt. Must use "Stock" flywheel.

I use the clutchnet 6-puck sprung with a Subaru oem 2.5RS pressure plate and it is holding 300whp. easy to drive and works great on stage starts.

People underestimate the stock Subaru pressure plates.

This is precisely the information i was looking for. Thanks Erik.

and that info is correct

stock flywheel

and any disk/plate you want

Exedy and SPEC (best i've used yet) work well for me on my WRX (205whp with restrictor)

Not that it's of great importance, but the rule doesn't say that the flywheel has to be stock. It merely says that it has to be of the same material as stock.

same material and weight

you'd better run stock or clarify it with the national scrutineers (assuming you're running natl)

PGT'ers are fighting for subaru $$$$$

Rules really aren't up for debate when it comes to tear down time.

We use an Exedy clutch (available from Team Illuminata Motorsport) and a stock factory flywheel on our SS/PGT WRX.

205whp with a 32mm restrictor???!!!

Might have to talk to Jamie's tuner...what engine management?
