View Full Version : New Registration Change (To keep spammers at bay)

For you OG DirtyImpreza peeps you might remember the "VIP code" that was used for registrations when we were using phpbb for our discussion forums.

I have implemented the same thing for vBulletin. I am hoping it will have the same results as when we used it on the old forum because after the change there was next to Zero spam posts / registrations. Sure the forum member list wont grow as quickly, but who cares! I hate spam. :angryfinger:

When a new user registers, the only additional step they need to take is to answer a stupid question "What is the first letter of the alphabet?" (in addition to the CAPTCHA and email verification). Simple... yet effective! :p

BTW this will also serve to keep completely computer challenged people from getting onto the forums. LOL. :FU:

I signed up for a forum that said on the registration portion "if you are visually impaired and can not see this security code then please contact the admin for further instructions" - it always made me wonder who exactly was supposed to read that note??

there is this one user that seems to pop up in almost every thread so i'm suspecting him as a spammer......uses the screen name 409 something or other. should keep an eye on him......
