So today was not a good day. I was in a very busy parking lot and was looking for a place to park. I was stopped behind some lady in a parking spot and she started backing out. It didn't look like she was looking behind her so I took a quick glance in my drivers side mirror and started to back up. Honk! Bam! There was a guy behind me on my far right side. I was so pissed at myself.:shootsself: I was like, "F*** there goes the money for my new suspension. I really don't care about my car but now I have to spend money to fix someone else's ride. After exchanging info, I went home and tried to pop my bumper out while the plastic still had some memory. I pulled the bumper off and beat the S*** out of it. Not as bad as Jon's though.

F..k that sucks. I hate that feeling.. you'd have been better off letting her hit you (hindsight = exact).. how bad was the other guy?
The bumper might go back into shape over time - my Corrado's rear bumper got hit at 20-30mph.. I fixed it months later and you'd never know. Maybe some heat might help it along? ABS is amazing stuff..

yeah.. get one of those heat guns and reshape it.. might loose the paint but its better than having a dent

The other guy had about the same size dent on his front left bumper.
Yeah, I was thinking a heat gun might help. It doesn't look too bad though, just a little deformed and some paint missing.

I am mostly pissed because even though the guy said it was his commuter, I am sure he cares more about his cars appearance than I do mine. So, it will probably cost me a few hundred to fix his car.:pissed:

Yeah, I was at the mall. I was going to get the Christmas shopping out of the way early this year, but after that I just left and said that my gift to my family would be fixing that guys bumper.
I am glad I didn't hit any metal. I can live with a bumped bumper. Thats what it's there for right?

well, you backed up and hit him? how do you know he wasn't moving forward and hit you? Why was he so far up on your ass, that if you backed up a few feet you actually hit him?
what I'm getting at is...might not be your fault.

You make a very valid point, but I know it was my fault. I was stopped and he was stopped about 5 feet behind me(kinda in a blind spot) and I backed up pretty quickly in order to let this lady out from her parking spot. From a certain stand point I probably shouldn't have accepted fault right away, but I know it was my fault and the guy was pretty cool about it. He is going to get an estimate and call me and depending on that price we'll see what happens. I would guess that his front bumper might have to be replaced. I should have asked him if I could take his car home for an hour and see what I could do. I mean other than the scratches in the paint, my car doesn't look too bad.

That sucks. You really shouldn't have backed up and waited to see if they other person would have stopped. Good luck in getting it sorted out.
I really hate driving here in NorCal, everyone has the attitude that they always have the right away even when they're at a stop sign or light.

Well I'd wouldn't even know about your bumper now. You can hardly tell it was that bad. As for the other guy, don't be afaid to call your insurance agent for help. Got to protect yourself against the scammers. Without a police report, you haven't admitted anything. Good luck to you and Merry Christmas.
