who else here has done it? i got bored the other day and made a delete plate for my WRX and i was both impressed and disappointed about it.

with my BPV working normally, in gear on and off throttle is very violent if i am not smooth with the pedal. with the BPV blocked it is very smooth no matter how abrupt i am with the throttle, i quite like it a LOT. BUT!!! basically between shifts the RPM's hang/drop slower than normal so it causes me to get on the throttle/off clutch weird. so i would have to shift slower to make it smoother. its a badass sound, but that throttle hang alone is annoying enough to want to go back (even though i was going to anyway). im sure theres ways to get around/fix this. but the feeling when staying in gear geting on and off throttle was really nice/interesting.

the DBC 02-05 WRX's with the 16 bit ECU's do not have this throttle hang issue, i believe it is something tuned into the DBW maps on 32 bit ecu cars (04+ STi, 06+ WRX)

next time i can play around in the dirt i will try it both blocked and normal to see how it is.

i will also say, on a VF39 i dont think i would run it blocked all the time because of the potential to bend compressor blades (have no research on this at all) but on bigger turbos i would run none at all full time. but what do i know, im also going to be running a VIPEC V88 and anti lag...

heres a video i have of it. its kinda hard to hear but you can. these videos were done with the windows up to hear the turbo spool and surge better. the surge is audiable from outside the car. im running a stock intake with snorkus removed.

I've run no bpv/bov for several seasons now. I've run a vf39, a vf36, and a gt2871r. No issues (on both stock ecu with tune and on GEMS N14 standalone).

how was the VF39 after a season? anything bad happen that you could tell was directly from the lack of BPV?

There is a recirc/vent bov that holds a few PSI. I've been meaning to give one a go just to see how it works, but I haven't gotten around to that and I'm not sure its PGT legal now so it might be a while.

I think this is the one I was thinking about:

Wouldent running no BPV be hard on the turbo, and all the intake related seals?

no problems

yes, it is harder on the turbo (intake related seals not so much). I wouldn't do it on a daily driver. The anti-lag in my car is way harder on the turbo than no bpv so it's not something I really worry about.

did you notice any of the similiar things as i did when switching to and from it? im waiting for my rally wheels and snow tires to come in and get some snow to really put it to the test.

to be honest, not really. performance was the same, it just sounded different

interesting, well im going to do back to back runs+data logs with a few different setups.

that being said, what do most rally cars/you use for boost control? im running on just mechanical wastegate spring pressure now, and its a PITA to drive on gravel like this. it wants to keep accelerating even when im off the throttle its weird.

solenoid controlled via ecu. I use the GM boost control solenoid and a GEMS N14 ecu

yeah i need to get mine hooked up. im tired of this full boost/accekeration whe. i dont need/want it

we finally had enough snow for me to do some experiments. just was out with spring pressure with my BPV normal. throttle response was decent, wish it was a bit more responsive. especially when i get into boost (10+PSI) it will "uncontrolably" max the spring (so hit like 15PSI...normal) reguardless of my throttle position and i will bounce off the limiter. on the street (with or without traction) i do not have this issue. i also have this issue in gravel.

next snow we get i will try back to back with it deleted, also hopefully be tuned with a EBCS by then and re mapped throttle.
