I plan on adding two more lights to the light bar. I have a pair of 500FF driving lights now and im trying to decide what to get for the second pair. I wanna get 500FF so that they match but not sure whether to get fog lights or drivng lights. any thoughts?

If you don't have a set of fog lights now, then they wouldn't be a bad choice. However, you could look at some KC spot lights that would give you a much more focused beam farther in front of you. I think it all depends on what driving you are more likely going to be doing.

I installed the 500FF fogs in place of my stock bugeye fogs. After my experience with them and the light output they provide I would say that you should not buy them unless you actually plan to use them as FOG lights.

They don't provide enough light to improve visibility in the dark when used together with the headlights. The only time I've been really glad to have them is when I hit some super thick fog which had some cars pulling over to the side of the road. (this is in the hills around San Francisco, where it regularly gets foggy) I was able to turn off my headlights and run the fogs on their own, which gave me a noticeable improvement in visibility. I'm considering adding a yellow tint to the lens since this should also help.

If you want additional lights to see farther/around corners then you should look at a different beam pattern or different lights altogether. The BACANA Motorsports post here on DI says they will be/already are offering LED light bars and their prices are very reasonable when you consider the durability and long life of LEDs compared to halogens.

ok thanks for the info. have you ever switched lightbulbs in lights. I want to put 100 watt bulbs in my 500ffs. I know I'll have to redo the wiring but will the housing stand up to the extra heat?

I've heard the same thing, but I think I've read someone successfully swapping with 75w bulbs with no changes or issues (for what that's worth).

i have a set of 500ff with 100w bulbs and the cars factory foglight wiring have not have any problems. it easily doubled the amount of light they put out

i also have done my own grounding kit witch helps keep dimming to a minimum

Good to hear, I have 4 700FFs that I want to put the 100w bulbs in, using the stock wiring the lights came with

i drive on back roads from the top to the bottom of mountains in any and every kind of weather condition. amber fog lights are only way to go when it comes to driving in poor conditions. id be willing to bet in thick fog your hids glare as bad as my 4000 Driving beams with 130w bulbs.

the spread of the ffs lens assemblys cover less than half the area that the classics cover. plus hella h3 100w bulbs($7.00each) im betting are much cheaper than the hids as well. classics are also cheaper and better quality than the ff
