alright as some of you know, i am organizing a "rally", so i wanted to spread the word about DI and the "fun" factor of our cars. well i got a nasty "smack in the face" i posted a forum, and it was closed because they beleive it was takin "street cars" and wanting to raise hooliganizm. actually heres the exact words. ""Seems like your intentions are hooliganisms on open roads w/ streetcars. Not a bright idea and not rally."":machinegunleft::pissed::bs::angryfinger::punch:. ahhhhhh im a little irrate about it and why this thread was treated this way, but when somebody organizes the "nautilus run" which i would have loved to go on, anyways, what would you call this. perfectly suitable/legal, but when you take it OFF ROAD its hooliganizm? WTF:roll: anyways, i dont know if i offended anyone on here with what i think of NASIOC on here. i beleive i posted it in the correct area. if i didnt, then please move it. anyways i guess subaru's arent capable of handle off road. new news to me, did any of you know that?

dude...we all have similar opinons of Nastysock. the site is mostly populated by "tuners" who would rather rub thier cars with a diaper than use it for what it was meant for...also, it sounds like that mod is on a power trip.
after viewing the thread, you prolly could've worded a lil' different so as to not attract the negative attention. i would just change the whole thread to a "meet & greet" and leave out any connotations of rally. i'd open another one under the subterfuge of a "backwoods cruise". they'll prolly just close it again though...

I havn't really been a fan of Nasioc since the I-club split years ago. I thought it went away but they had a lot of complaints about mods being insane and locking/deleting threads for no apparent reason.
DI and I-club are just about the only forums I visit now, though I havn't really been on iclub for a while now.

yeah i thought about reposting it but when they see that it was from the same poster and the same type of thread they will prolly just close it. i know why they closed it, i left all of them out because like it was said before they dont wanna get their scoobies dirty and make them look very good, oh well, i htink i will get a good turn out on here, and at least everyone on here has the same attitude as i do towards THEM!!!. thanx again for the support, oh well their loss their cars will never fell as good as ours will hehehehe

Nabisco can be useful provided you are aware of its dangers ahead of time. If you keep your arms and legs inside the car until it has come to a complete stop and follow all of the manufacturers directions then you too can have a safe and enjoyable experience. My advice is to know your purpose for going there in the first place, stick to your mission and search like there's no tommorow prior to posting a question. I've been on the boards there for over 5 years lurking/learning for the majority of the time and am amazed when I get called a newb by someone who's been there for less than a month simply because they have a higher post count than I. I am not a post whore by any stretch and could care less about my "rating" on any board. I ususally refrain from posting unless I feel that I have something relevant worth sharing and I find that the vast majority of my questions can be easily answered by searches.I do find most of the boards to be quite informative and rewarding. This one I am proud to be a part of and hope to play a more constructive role here in the future.

yeah i dont think they have problem with the "sanctioned" rallycross, but my problem came when i posted up about my meet and get dirty meet....i guess they figured goin off road was bad, but having a "meet and cruise" on the pavement on roads with traffic was o.k. or the mod might have just been on a power trip? i dunno, thier loss, that all i can say

I agree that NASIOC is too big and too cliquey for its own good, that the mods can be heavy-handed and that they tend to focus on 'the street'.
But.. I know why they closed you down the first time. It's a terminology and a CYA thing - on one hand, you can't say that getting a bunch of people together and hooning it up on a dirt road is "rally", and on the other, the site can't be seen as condoning something which has the air of illegality about it.
Barrett posted about it here before:
http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/showthread.php?p=17908#post17908
And Mike, the pre-eminent rallycross organiser round here posted on our local board actually yesterday along the same lines:
http://www.rallyxportal.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=7005#7005
So yeah.. I know what you're saying about NASIOC. But we have our reasons for wanting to get dirty and they have their reasons for staying clean. No need to take sides.

Amen Brotha!
I do feel like i push the limits a bit when i post videos on Nasioc that are whored out with dirtyimpreza stuff in it. But thats video content... no harm no foul.
Where things run the risk of being locked or closed is when you blatently try to refer people to other websites (ie dirtyimpreza.com). Just be very mindful of the wording you use and you wont get your thread locked. Also its a good idea to do things like "more information can be found here (http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/#)" and link the "here" word to your target link rather than posting:
Leave NASIOC and visit DIRTYIMPREZA because its so much better than NASIOC (http://www.dirtyimpreza.com/forums/#)
but whatever, nasioc serves its purpose (FS classifieds and local events only for me)

I read that "weapons" thread and some of those guys just scare me. I guess Denver isn't as bad as I thought. The best weapon I've got in my car is my right foot and the steering wheel. I've got a leathrman and a mag light in there under the seat but those are more for the emergency fixes on the side of the dirt road out in BFE at 1 in the morning.

I have alot of problems with Nasioc, and the people on it. I've been on Focus forums for the last 5 years, and I've had more problems with people on Nasioc in the 3 months I've been on it than I ever had on the 5 years on the other Forums. I dont get it over there, it seems like they just like to be douche bags. Not everyone ofcourse, but a whole lot of them. And ofcourse, the normal retaliation for them is "it's a forum, you have to expect to be criticised, or flamed, or blah blah blah...", well, no I dont.
I've only been on this forum for a little while, but so far the only thing even close to any kind of non-positive comment I've read is "your car is to clean", and that's what makes this forum so much better. I'm really glad I found this forum. You guys are chill, and I like that.

Well I think some of us might be taking this aversion to Nabisco a little too far. My feelings about that site and another more local one(for me) is the difficulty one can experience in trying to get real answers to honest questions. The primary frustrations I have are the inevitable flaming/newbie-ism responses and the inability of certain mods to keep things under control. As I've stated previously I still feel it is a most invaluable resource to the Impreza and Subaru community provided it is used properly. The amount of information available over there is greater than most other sites combined, including our beloved DirtyImpreza. This is not a knock on DI or any other site, just my recognizing that nasioc has been around much longer than most other sites and the sheer volume of members means a much greater pool of experiences. There are a plethora of posters over on nasioc for whom I have nothing but the upmost respect, and I suspect that some of you do also.
I spend more time here on DI and post more here due to my feeling a greater sense of community. This is primarily because of the similar methods that we enjoy our cars in and the goals and dreams that we have for them. If we begin to act in a manner similar to that which plagues some of the other respected sites in the Subaru/Impreza world then we are no better than they are. My previous posts with regards to nasioc(Nabisco) were meant as advice to new and unfamilar users with the hope that they can use that to avoid any unneseccary drama which might dampen their new found appreciation for Subaru.
I understand and empathize with the OP of this thread in regards to his frustrations and am happy that we are able to provide an outlet for said frustration. However we should keep in mind the reason why a post like that needed to be put on nasioc in the first place. The numbers.
/end rant/ again
PS Happy Christmas Eve everyone.
